I just installed the Kentwood KSC-SW1 subwoofer and it sounds great.

I have one question, I want to tap the power from the center console accessory plug. My question is how do you get the center console apart. I saw one screw on each side near the back of the console. My goal is to get on the back side of the accessory plug to tap in the Accessory Switched power for the sub-woofer without using the cigerette lighter. No wires showing is an absolute necessity.

If someone has any idea on how to get it apart or if another spot in the vehicle provides a switched power please let me know.

I will post the results of the subwoofer in another post.

After about an hour of reading, I realize that the grey wire on the harness controls the ACC for the amp. So I really dont need to get into the console after all.

Thanks for all the reads, but hopefully the grey wire will finish the amp installation tomorrow.

If you ever DO want into the center console, where the power wires are - just pop off those cup holders on the front. They just pull off - I cant' remember if it is mostly forward or up, but it becomes obvious when you start to tug. The wires are then behind a plate... easy to figure out once you're in there.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the reply Darell,

I'm going to install some other mods, so the information my come in handy for me or someone else in the future.

I can't say enough about PriusChat and the members. It's great to have step by step instructions with technical support of people that really work on their cars.

    Thanks,
    ---Kent

There are few things more rewarding to me than tearing apart an expensive new car. Drilling holes is a bonus. :)

Yes, PC has some awesome guys who've helped me tremendously.

I know an answer isn't really needed anymore, but since I just documented taking apart my center console to hide the wire from the PAC AUX-BOX (auxiliary input adapter) I just installed in my non-JBL '04, this seemed as good a place as any to include the information.

See attached PDF for the pictorial.

Thanks for posting that doc. I didn't know about some of those screws, so I learned something from it!
