More like 15 pages or so for using the radio and if you want to add CD about 22 pages. But thanks for your two posts that are nothing more than passive-aggressive scolding.

Don't let it get you down LDB. We've had ours since last July, downloaded the manual so I can do searches and it still takes a lot of time to figure some things out. The simplest terms aren't indexed so you either have to step through with "find next" or one page at a time. It doesn't help that so many illustrations don't even match your model and some not even the car. Just take your time and ask questions, someone will always come to the rescue with an answer. I don't even care if someone is just plain lazy, I'll answer any questions I can.

I can't find the frequently referenced (in the full manual) "Touch Screen" owner's manual, paper or online. There are several things about the touch screen I can't figure out, including how to clear preset stations and how to set my preferred stations. I have a new (to me) 2014 Prius Two.

    Is it one of these:

If you Google "Toyota Techinfo", go to the first hit, select the "Manuals" tab, then fill in the 3 data fields to get these.

Remember when you used an actual dial to find a radio station? Remember all you had to do was pull out the button and then push in all the way to preset a station? It was so easy to use.

I remember it and it was garbage! :mad:You had to jog all the way from one side of 88 FM to the other side to get to 107 FM. You never knew if you're dialed in because it's an analog read out backlit by a tiny LED behind the display. You shared all 5 or 6 presets for AM and FM! My Prius radio worst ever? Hardly. Try pulling out the preset button and have it come out in your fingers and fly into the back seat.

Thank you, I will check those out. But I already have the full manual, and my Prius doesn't have the navigation system. The owner's manual clearly states in several places to refer to the "Touch Screen Owner's Manual." It is so frustrating. I can't figure out how to delete all of the old presets (bought the car used). It shouldn't be that difficult, my career was in IT.

Edit to add: there also doesn't seem to be an indicator of the direction the car is traveling. I shouldn't need the navigation system to have that displayed, just like the external temp is displayed.

After 5 days of ownership, I like the car but am very frustrated.

    MsMolly,

You can't delete presets unfortunately. You must overwrite them. To do so, you tune to the am/fm/xm station you want, and then hold your finger on the preset for 4 seconds. That will overwrite that preset with the current station.

The car does not tell you what direction you are traveling in, none of the cars I have ever owned have, it's not that common. Even the navigation system doesn't tell you what direction you are travelling, unless you have the map open.

The prius is not a luxury vehicle, though it is pretty luxurious feeling for an econobox. If you need this feature then you can have one of the homelink mirrors that includes that installed.

There is no "touch screen owner's manual", what you need is the "Display Audio" manual. It should have come with the car, and it is available at the toyota owners website if you register, or through the toyota owners cellphone app. Here is one for the 2013, your system is about the same Download 2013 Toyota Prius - Toyota Universal Display Audio System Owner's Manual With Navigation: Audio System Operation PDF (53 Pages)

Thanks for your reply. If there is no touch screen owner's manual, why does the full owner's manual refer to one -- repeatedly -- throughout?I don't have the navigation system, but I had downloaded the Display Audio manual and tried to adapt it to my system.

My 2007 PT Cruiser (and I think my previous 2001 PT) both had a little indicator of direction somewhere on the dashboard display. So have at least two rental cars I've driven. Fortunately there is a compass on my iPhone if I get desperate!

If I can't delete the presets, then I guess I just overwrite a few and ignore the other 30 or so? That doesn't make much sense to me (not disputing you, it just seems strange).

I did not expect a luxury vehicle -- my only cars since 2001 have been PT Cruisers, hardly luxury vehicles. I like the Prius (after 5 days) but some of the controls and the symbols (about 5 different icons for lights alone!) are mysterious and so is some of the documentation! And my career was in IT, so this shouldn't be that difficult to figure out.

You could set multiple presets to the same station.

Yeah that's pretty much what I do, I still have 18 presets that I need to actually set something to. I do wish I could clear them out so I could cycle back only through the pages I've actually set.

In both my former 2001 and current 2010, the presets seem to get pretty thoroughly wiped any time I unhook the 12 volt battery for any reason. It usually isn't what I'm trying to do ... but if that is what you want to do, I can report it works pretty well. :)

Or did they go and make the presets nonvolatile for 2014?

In the 2010 I'm finding it kind of amusing what gets wiped and what doesn't when the 12V is interrupted. The time on the clock: wiped. The fact that I set the clock to 24-hour mode: preserved. Radio presets: wiped. Paired Bluetooth devices: preserved. Nav history: preserved. Default nav region to search in: reset to east coast. Seems kind of a hodge-podge.

It could all be different for the 2014...

Yep! I'm still finding out stuff and I have had my Prius since August last year (2015).

Easy enough to set duplicates so you can cycle through them in groups of 6 (6 times), 12 (3 times) or 18 (2 times).

Are you sure you have the correct manuals? I checked through 3 that I downloaded and found no reference to "touch screen owner's manual". Be that as it may, it appears that Toyota uses a basic owner's manual with phrases, descriptions, etc., that may not match your exact model, especially when it comes to the audio display. I have a 2014 Four with Navigation and have had a lot of difficulty trying to figure things out quickly. I did find it easier to download them so I could do searches and Google has been a good friend too, often pointing me to a thread here that answered my question or led me in the right direction to figure it out on my own.

Other than vehicles with a compass or nav system, I've never had one that shows direction of travel. Even the ones with a nav system often don't show direction of travel unless it is set to North Up. The PTs you've had must have had that feature, but I don't think it's too common without the nav system. The specs for the 2010 PT Cruiser does include a compass. I've never traveled base on direction, so not having a compass doesn't bother me. I don't even set my nav to North Up, I just go where it takes me, but I get that some directions say things like North on I-95, etc.. :)

Every vehicle I've owned with presets has had defaults set, though it may have been that the dealer set them. The Prius is the first I've had with 36 though. My truck has 12 and our van had 12, for AM and FM each. Until the Prius, I never used more than 6 for FM, so I just duplicated them. And while I only use 4-5 on the Prius, I have all 36 set so I can scroll through those I might ever use or just use during the Christmas holidays. If I only had 12 and didn't want to scroll though others, I'd simply duplicate them 3 times and be done with it. Some vehicles might ignore blank presets, the Prius just isn't one of them, but then the others probably don't get 50 mpg. ;)

On my Prius if you disconnect the 12v the presets do go away, but they are not blanked, they are replaced with preset-presets, many of which don't line up to stations in my area.
