    All right everything seems ok.
Since I am fairly new to the prius world how long is it suppose to take for the engine to recharge the batterie?

Take it for a spin. Since you just balanced the pack, I would think it you would only see 5 or 6 blue bars while driving, maybe won't see green until you hit long downhill stretch

    SM-N900P ?

The balance was down in the night from sunday to monday.
on monday I drove to work and had to stop like 12 times (the most since the issue had started) because "problem" would pop up on the screen and battery stopped interacting with the engine/motor (no more arrow going to OR from the battery). Stopping, turning the car off and restarting reset it so I could drive for another 5-20 miles before it does it again.

If I can make it home tonight, I will use the next 3 days to discharge 3 times and refill, and finish with a balance like HA suggests in their reconditioning guide.

I haven't gotten the triangle of death as I started, as opposed to the past few weeks. Just hoping I am good for a few thousands work has been backing up huh.

No worries you'll be good for a while, even if you don't do the charge/discharge in the next few weeks

    SM-N900P ?

You will know how well you've done in the next few weeks. Fingers and toes crossed for all the work you put in and the $$$$$ you spent.

Get an ELM327 bluetooth wireless adapter and the Torque Pro app for Android with extended PIDs and you will be able to keep track of how well the battery is doing when you're driving. That's if your Prius has bluetooth or not and if not you can add it I believe.

The SOC bar gauge on the MFD is helpful but it is little more than a fuel gauge.

I only have the wifi odb2 for my iphone and odb fusion.
About to find out how she does.

By the way I realized that I never mentioned that "has to stop"/"battery no longer interacting (relay off??" Issue. Have you guys experienced before while driving with a failed module ?

Got to pasadena without code. First time this car's engine actually stops. Before it would never stop even at a red light.

Ok so the first 30 miles or so, looking at the battery gauge it felt like it was going up and down quite a lot more than I expected from a normal battery. Went from purple to green a few times in as little as a minute (not normal I would think).

Not error, and the engine would stop as it should in traffic jam and red lights.

After picking up my wife in pasadena it substantially charge and discharge much less (less traffic and more highway). And actually for the past 5-10 miles it's been sitting at the highest blue bar (last before green).

I have another 50 miles of uphill freeway/highway and all of it will be 55/65 mph.

I had 3 modules slightly less charged than the rest (the one I replaced and the 2 I drained a little more). So maybe the first 30 miles the battery was readjusting or something.

I kinda wonder how the battery knows the charge level though. From voltage level? Current draw?
I'll definitely start working on the slow discharge as soon as I get home and do a complete reconditionning.

Thanks for the help guys. I actually had quite a bit of fun :D

I don't think it's normal for the battery to go purple and green a few times in a minute. You can go home and check the voltages of the batteries tomorrow morning. Only a bad block would do rapid purple to green SOC, and I can't see how that can happen with the pack you just put back together

Like I said it only did that a few times on my first 15 miles or so. I'm home now (125 miles in) and no issue whatsoever. The batterie charge was really steady and it felt really normal.

Gonna check voltage now (I live at 6000 ft in the highest street in my town so the batterie is sitting at 3 or 4 bars and it's blue).

I'll start the discharge now so that's it's ready for a charge in the morning. I'll probably run 200W bulbs until 196V and then switch to 40W bulbs for the night. Gotta be up early anyway since the tow truck is picking up the Volt. Huh

    Hey guys,

I finished the reconditioning of the battery earlier this morning and took it for a 120-mile round trip later this afternoon. While the car has been driving great (much better than before this problem emerged) I did get a pretty triangle of death (+ VSC, check engine light and ((!)) ). VSC and ((!)) light came off after a few miles but the other 2 remained till I got home. As far as I could tell the battery gauge didn't show any weird behavior and seemed to react as it should.

I read the code when I got home and only had a P0A80, nothing else. Not too sure what to make of it. Could this be normal after balancing the pack? or just another sign of a soon to die module?

That seems odd that there are no other codes. Maybe try a discharge test and see if any modules are failing.

    It shows a pending code

You might need a better code reader, like the minivci with techstream, runs off a laptop

It is possible to get a P0A80 DTC without a battery block is weak code accompanying it. You need to check the
block voltages to see if a cell failed in one of the modules. The torque pro app with extended PIDs would allow
you to do this with the battery still in the car. You need a better monitoring tool than you have now.

I reset the code last night and it didnt come back. Is there an equivalent to torque pro for iPhone? Or Pc?
I bought the odb2 reader wifi that was recommended by one of you guys but I dont mind buying another one

if I get Torque Pro and find a cheap android tablet will my wifi ODB2 reader work with it? or do i need a bluetooth one?

edit: what about this, you guys mentioned mini VCI before, does it come with the software I need to diagnose the battery further?

I know if it does or not. It's really easy to find out. Why don't you start finding things out on your own and stop asking one of us to do it for you. Sheesh.
