Hi I was wondering if anyone with V with AT pkg have tried the Intelligent Parking Assist. Just trying to get a feedback on how well it actually works. And if anyone has a video on it that would be great. Thanks

We tried it at a gathering in Houston and Parallel Parking worked easily he first time. We never did get the hang of a 90 degree back-in though.

Watching the videos, I noticed that you have to straighten the wheels for the 90-degree-back, after you have turned to the side. That's different from the parallel parking and a little counter-intuitive, and I'd imagine easy to forget. Where you doing that?

LOL, we tested it at a little PC gathering without knowing what we were doing, and without reading the manual! The parallel park worked quite easily, the back in not so much. The system kept telling us we didn't have the car correctly positioned. The system did prompt us on how to use it, but it was a tad confusing for the back in. We did eventually figure out we needed to turn out at the 2nd beep, and I think we were prompted to straighten the wheels.

Yeah, the video struck me as silly that it expected you to straighten the wheels manually. It doesn't seem like it's doing much for you at all. Rather silly.

The only thing I wish for in terms of non-parallel parking would be an automatic tilt-down of the side mirrors so I could see how close to the curb I am when I'm getting my end spot to avoid door dings.

first beep is to angle the car. the second beep is to stop the car and straighten the wheels. It will correct if you overshoot the spot. On my test drive, I was backing in towards the driver's side so you'd expect it to turn the wheel to the left to back into the spot after I angled it. Instead, it turned to the right, adjusted itself, then turned left and continued to guide the car into the spot. Very cool!!

I think the reason why you have to keep it straight is so that the computer can use it as a reference point. I don't think it has any idea how the wheels are turned but maybe just keeps track of the revolutions of the steering wheel to guide it in.

Got my Prius four weeks ago and finally tried the IPA. Backed in to four spots today. It absolutely rocks!

I have a friend who bought the top of the line Lexus a few years ago and showed me how it would parallel park for him. I find it amusing that I've got a little gas sipper that parks for me and costs a whole lot less!

Using it would be a man-card revocation event.

You do live near Portland, man-cards are pretty scarce there already........

The important word there is "near" but Hillsboro is very different than Portland.

I just happened to be in downtown Portland this morning, and felt very out of place. I go there as little as possible.
