Ordered 2002 Blue Moon Pear MY02 Gen 1 Prius off the internet. Not the color I ordered but somebody looked at it and Turned it down. Turn out it all the options I wanted Plus a few "Extras" in Brilliant Blue Pearl. Bird in the hand better than the another 3 month wait.

    The Gen 2 Prius.

It was high tech, it had a 7" LCD MFD, SKS, cool shifter, GameGear-styled steering wheel and it was fun learning all the stuff about hybrids on PriusChat. P&G, stealth mode, modding the car to unlock EV Drive Mode.

Lounge mode (sit in the rear seats with legs over the front seats), flat cargo floor and limo-like rear legroom were bonuses too. The Gen 3 and Gen 4 have decent rear legroom but nothing like the Gen 2.

My 2008 Ford Focus Diesel TDCI hatch is the car I'll probably remember most - lifetime 5.4l/100km (44 US MPG), 6 sp manual - the torque was wonderful, plus it was the sort of car you could throw at a mountain road or a roundabout with gusto. Comfortable and economical and fun.

I replaced it with the Ford Fiesta Diesel sedan I've got at present - which has lifetime 4.6l/100 (51 US MPG) - not as exciting, but certainly economical, a good budget car which was what I needed at the time.

Now retired recently, and having gone 5.4 -> 4.6 (44 to 51 MPG), next car logically should be lower still - which, in Australia, really only gives the option of Prius.

Not a diesel fan anymore. Owned 8 in my lifetime and do not miss the smelly fill ups. The GM 4.3 V6 turbo had the most power.

Me neither - now they put diesel particulate filters (or DPFs) on diesel cars. I've read of so many which ended up constipated because of a blocked filter which didn't clean itself as instructed, despite the correct type of running - in some cases (both Mazdas) costing thousands of dollars to rectify.

Besides my first car a 79 Mustang 2.3l with auto, the most excitement was buying my 15 Subaru Forester XT. Turbo, plenty of traction for the daily skiing, and lots of ground clearance. But 20mpg and premium has soured the fun. Turns out the Super Bowl commercial has ruined it for me. I have been obsessed with the 16 Prius. I'm driving my wife crazy, she doesn't care what I drive as long as I shut up about it already. Monday I'm going to test drive a Prius Two, it is loaded enough for me, heck the last two cars I never used the hands free since I refuse to take calls or texts when I'm driving. And since I usually drive in town, the mpg in the Prius should be near triple what I get now. And welcome back 85 octane(high elevation) which is 40-50 cents cheaper than 91 required in my Forester.
