On the 3rd generation, yes. It's not mentioned anywhere for the 4th generation. Curiously, headlight washers have been removed. (I believe they're a requirement in the UK at one point if HIDs, and now LEDs, were installed. Is this still the case?)

Does your car trim not have the auto leveling headlights?

I think that's a general Toyota LED headlight issue. I was out of town for work and got a brand new Corolla rental for about a week. I didn't realize that the Corolla also came standard with LED headlights and apparently their parking light/DRL is also the same as the low beams (high beams were halogen bulbs though) and as I was on rural roads, people flashed me thinking that I have my high beams on, and when I flashed back (with the halogen bulbs) it became clear that I only had low beams on...

Hmm I just made the air the same in all 4 tires. No more flashing. Might make the front tires wear a little more, but since I don't do any high speed cornering, probably not much.

Mine is extremely small. Suggest you use a GPS trip as it removes lot of variables in the equation. Also you will never get more gas than you paid for at the pump. They all short you a little. Also every fill up is different. Only a measured gallon will be somewhat accurate.

You can adjust the headlights yourself all you need is a long philips screwdriver, raise the hood and you will see two round slots above each headlight one for left to right and one for up and down. I recommend only moving the up and down screws and count the revolutions you make on each side then repeat it on the other side, make small adjustments and record them if you ever want to return it to factory settings.Use a piece of chalk against a wall or fixed object for a reference point while adjusting them
I have a Prius 2 , 2016 and had the same problem, I set them down some, not enough though then I took it to the dealer and after they adjusted them , I still set the right one down a little more, I think the left is set a little lower than the right from the factory.
I like the led lights and I still get flashed occasionally but it may be that some people are just not used to seeing them.
I really enjoy my Prius 2 as well.
    take care Bob

Was wondering what was the final overall average mpg for the trip?

Adjusting the headlights is relatively easy.

I think you can have your headlights adjusted, pointing more downward when on low beam. This should help.

I don't think it's that bad. The stations are regularly inspected.

Bend inspector makes sure customers get what they pay for; State inspectors check that gas pumps, produce scales and more are accurate

Who would ever know. Unfortunately my experience with folks responsible for the final product being correctly measured in a realistic setting has been very poor. Money talks in all areas of business. No one will be obvious about cheating but will get it as close as they can without being caught red handed. The customer has no way to check this unless they create a measured gal and check every service station they go. Even then it is difficult to check since refueling a car is different than putting an exact gal in a clear jar.

For sure it has been operationally checked by everyone in the forum and something is causing the numbers to be little off and up to 7% for some folks.

Probably Toyota and the gas stations are both off. The question is who is the most guilty? :)

Honda in 2003 was way off on my Civic hybrid and everyone knew it. One of the reasons I eventually switched to a Prius. It was a trust thing and not the only item they got caught at.

Our '06 Civic Hybrid (2nd gen) mpg display was either spot-on or slightly pessimistic, comparing to my calculation. For example, if the calc was 5.0 liters per 100 km, the car would display the same, or 5.1 (a bit worse). I guess they tightened it up between gen 1 and 2.

That's one of the few kind things I can say about it though.

I have the exact same problem with my new Prius, so much so I took it back to the dealer and asked them to check the adjustment. They checked out fine, but as soon as dawn approcahes I get flashed, okay not everyday, maybe once or twice a week, once by a deputy sheriff. :cautious:

This must not be occurring across the board. My headlights are nice and bright, so I have great night vision, but I've had no problems with people flashing their lights at me. Even with my headlights set to auto-dim, nobody has seemed to have an issue. This has been great for me, since I was apparently in the habit of dimming them sooner than I needed to. The fact that I also have great illumination of the road near me when the high beams are on, would indicate that our headlights came differently adjusted.
