    Try this.

    1. Try to get the Prius into it's state of being completely powered down while the 12 volt battery is connected. Use the power button to do this. It should shut down by pressing the button. If you have difficulty press and hold it until the dash goes dark.
    2. Charge the 12 volt battery with a smart charger until it is fully charged. You can charge the battery by connecting a charger to the jump point under the hood. Set the charger on a four amp maximum charging rate and the AGM setting. If you don't have a charger with those settings, it is advisable to obtain one before you attempt charging the battery.
    3. Once the battery is fully charged, disconnect the negative for at least two minutes, then reconnect. Try to make sure all loads are off when you reconnect.
    4. After all of that firmly press on the brake pedal, and push the power button. If it does not become ready, then power down completely. Then once again firmly press on the brake pedal and push the power button. The Prius then should become ready.

If you still have problems after that, consult a Toyota dealer or a good mechanic that has a Prius aware scanner.

The situation you are describing is generally caused by a weak or failing 12 volt battery. Just because the battery is new does not mean it is fully charged. The Prius can be finicky at times due to a weak 12 volt battery.

welcome! yes, we know quite a bit. the 12v is located in the right rear fender under the hatch floor. there are a couple components to be removed from the top, and then the cables. pull the battery out, clean the area and replace with an oem from toyota, or matching aftermarket optima, duracell, exide, etc. anything else in particular?

Thanks for replies. Turns out there was a rat nest under the inverter. Some chewed wires but no expensive parts to replace.

Guess that what happens when you park out side next to the wetlands.

    Thanks for replies.
