Just sold my 2006 Prius, and one of my geeky accessories in it was a V4 CAN-View. The new owner wasn't the type of person to want that, so here I present it for sale. This will only work in the second generation ('04-'09) Prius. This is the model that works on a secondary screen (included), not the built-in screen.

The CAN-View is like a ScanGauge, but way better. It is large and shows you tons more information, numerically and graphically, and updates much faster as well. It is a Hypermiler's dream. You can read about it and see all the various screens on the old website here.

The hardware consists of a small "project box" that sits under the driver's seat and plugs into the OBD-II port. Then from the box you run a cable bundle (VGA video, USB, and 12V power) to the included 7" Lilliput LCD touchscreen (designed for car A/V setups). Cable routing for everything can be done very easily and neatly.

Manufacture of these ended recently, but mine is still in perfect working order and will hopefully find a home in someone else's car now. I will even include the custom wood mounting solution I made for it, which mounts it (somewhat) rigidly into the center console storage cubby. I also have the programming dongle for it to update firmware, but alas there won't be any more updates...

The CAN-View also has the potential to be a controller for a PHEV conversion, but this particular unit does NOT have the serial or relay options installed, so that would need to be added to it to use that portion if desired.

This setup cost me $600 at the end of 2006 when I got it. I'd like to get $150 for it, but I may consider reasonable offers (send me a PM). Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Note: The iPod dock shown in these pictures is NOT included!

So what does your system entail? I might be interested if just to get started with making it work on a Gen 3 (my prius). I've posted a few things here but have yet to actually get my hands on hardware and have anything close to a CAN view system. I'm still a bit lost but working my way towards understanding. All the lingo and acronyms are beyond me even though I have 20+ years of programming experience and know C, C++, etc but haven't really done machine code much.

So, let me know what you have to offer and how it's connected to your old prius.

Sorry to disappoint, but given that this was posted 2.5 years ago... it's long gone.
But in any case, there was really no hope for getting it to work in a Gen3. I even asked the original developer about it, and he wasn't interested in helping me out with it in any way.

Any chance that the "new" owner wants to get rid of it for some reason? I'd love to get my hands on one.

I’d like to know what gen 11 users are using these days to monitor their systems, look up codes etc.
is it still the scan gauge or has something else taken over?
My old laptop bit the dust finally and I’m looking for a new solution.
