Two more fill-ups. I spent the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend on an errand to deliver my daughter's cat from Southern California to San Francisco. Did not want to linger, so I immediately turned around and drove home. I took the scenic (and slower) route of the 101 VS. the faster and quicker 5 freeway to see if I could register a better average from the last extended road trip.

Whittier to San Francisco and back again in one day.
Northbound: 442.8 miles @ 61.3 MPG (MFD) about 8 hours.
Southbound: 446.7 miles @ 62.4 MPG (MFD) about 9 and a half hours. Damn traffic!
    Total: 899.5 miles @ 61.8 MPG almost 18 hours.
Using the approximate average of 5% overstatement of the MFD to calculated, I estimate the MPG at 58.7.

    Good report, Kevin. Thanks.
What kind of speeds were you getting up to?
    900 miles, 58 mpg. That's very good.
How's your tail-end feel after being in the saddle for 18 hours? How was the seat comfort?

I set the cruise control to the speed limit. 65 and 70 mostly. The seat was very comfortable, but at the end my legs were "tingling". I used the dynamic cruise control a lot. Would not have tried it without that function.

    Full tank gas mileage report:

541 miles of city driving. "Normal" drive mode.
I refueled when the gas gauge reached the last bar. I put in 9.0 gallons.
Computer display showed an average of 62.3 mpg.
    Hand calculated: 60.1

    No complaints. :D

I'm very impressed with 60 mpg. And that's with not even trying, F-dawg. I'm just driving my Prius like a regular car, in the Normal mode.

    Like I stole it..... ;)

(I owe that fantastic gas mileage to my great Toyo Tires! 41 PSI, and quiet as a spring day in the Forrest.)

I keep getting over 70 mpg, following speed limits and, admittedly, driving between 50 and 60 on the highway. This is in "eco" mode and mostly non-highway miles following the speed limit. I live in rural Maine...not a lot of highway driving.

Yet another record for Salty. Mostly just my usual commute. but the weather was warmer and I had a couple of errands that involved slow stop and go freeway traffic - that is a plus for mileage!

5% error seems to be the new norm. Sickeningly good numbers btw. :cautious:

"Sickeningly good." I like that. Are you from Britain, or Canada? :D

My gas mileage is going up. The display always constantly showed 60 mpg... and now it shows 64. I don't know why, I haven't done anything different. It's gotta be those great Toyo Tires!!! ;)

Amazing how much better gas millage the gen 4 gets than my Gen 2 did. It uses the electric at all speeds. Something the gen 2 didn't do. I'm now at 2000 miles. I haven't reset the average. It's now at 65 MPG. It's been going up from around 50MPG, when the car was delivered a few weeks ago. The drive report card is now showing 70 MPG. And I'm driving normal.

At 1600km on the ODO I show 3.8l/100km. With my Gen 2 my best ever trip showed 4.4l/100km. I found that the EV Monitor helps a lot.

    Happy camper

In a perverse way, I feel like I actually accomplished something this week, with regard to MPG. I actually figured out how to average less than 50 mpg! I had one tank this week at 49 mpg, one at 48 mpg.

All I had to do was drive my regular commute (230 miles round trip), but raise my speed to 75 mph, keep the AC blasting on 65 degrees, and count on the weather to provide a 20 mph headwind on the way home.

Given the terrible conditions of my commute, the fuel economy on this thing is insanely good.

My (lifetime) 4.9 liters per 100 km translates to 48 mpg (US). So basically, if I hyper mile my guts out, I can leave skid marks on the side of yur wurst tank. :cautious:

OK, finally some hot weather and no extended road trips. Two weeks of back and forth to work on my routine commute. This tank blew away my prevous best by almost 5%!
Things were going so well that I had to try for the 800 mile tank. Drove 100 miles with the gas light illuminated and 75 miles with the DTE at "0". First click fill was 11.148 gallons.
Lifetime numbers now are 65.01 calculated MPG (first click) and 68.3 on the MFD.
