That's a good idea. I never thought about the fuse. However I'm still happy that I moved it behind that hump and don't have to reset everything.

So it sounds like Dension is aware of the issue? Did they actually acknowledge the problem as a known issue or did they come up with the "pull the fuse" solution after you told them you knew that disconnecting it and reconnecting it would fix it?

And if it is a known issue to them, are they planning to fix it with a firmware upgrade anytime soon?

I told them it wasn't responsive and asked "is there any way to reset the Ice>Link without having to tear the dash apart and unplug it?" Their reply was simply to recommend "pulling the radio's fuse for a couple minutes" and that it should reset the ice>link. Nothing else in the reply: nothing about it being a known problem or whether it's fixable via a firmware upgrade.

I agree, your solution is still preferable to having to reset all that stuff. I may ask my dealer to move the ice>link to where I asked for it in the first place, but that can now wait until my next service.

Since I learned about the ice>Link:plus in this thread, I think posting here is appropriate. Thanks to everybody who posted! My installation this weekend was a breeze. I installed CAN-View last year, so I already know how to take the dash apart. I installed the unit behind the hump like Marlin suggested. So far so good, I don’t have to carry tons of CDs in my Prius anymore. Before I purchase ice>Link from www.enfigcarstereo.com, I ask if they are selling the latest version, and their answer was yes. I’ll report back if there’s any lockup issue. If not, that means everything goes fine.

Ah! ok... the ice>Link: Plus locked up 3 times in 2 weeks! Very annoying. Thanks to Marlin, I installed the unit behind the hump, so I can connect it and disconnect it without taking apart the whole dash. I wrote to Dension and waiting for their response.

It would've been a great product if it doesn't have the lockup problem.

I think perhaps I will have to submit a support ticket again. I added a response to my old support ticket asking when the firmware upgrade was going to be available. When I last talked to them, they said a firmware upgrade was going to be availble in April, but I haven't seen it yet. They haven't responded to my response on the old ticket, so perhaps it's closed and doesn't show up on their queries. I guess I'll have to submit a new one again. Maybe with a couple of us submitting tickets, it might get escalated a little.

I just got a response back from Dension. The person asked me to get back to him in 2 to 3 weeks. <_<

Sounds a lot like what I was told 6 weeks ago.

My fallback plan, if it comes down to it, is to install a little switch under the dash that cuts the power to the device and then restores it so I don't even have to pull off that hump cover to reset it. I would prefer a firmware fix, but if push comes to shove, a switch will do the job.

Here's the response I got today from Dension.

    Hi all,

I just wanted to say my ipod's gotten locked out, and I'm glad to find all the discussion here. I've got mine installed in the glove compartment, so I'll remove and replace the fuse.
Hopefully the firmware upgrade will arrive shortly as promised.

Has anyone noticed what specific sequence of events leads to the lockout?

I hope you can move the unit to a more convenient place where you can plug and unplug it. Removing the fuse will reset all the setting in your car (clock, radio, etc.). I do hope they have a firmware upgrade soon, but don’t put too much hope on it. Dension's been saying they will have an upgrade for a while now.

As for the sequence, I will try to remember the next time it locks out. I don't have a clue now.

My wife hasn't figured out a sequence yet, although she's tried.

I took out the "Dome" fuse (from the fusebox under the hood) and replaced it after a few minutes, but it didn't fix the problem.
    Any other suggestions?

Are you sure you disconnected the correct fuse?

What I did is just disconnect the unit from the cable coming from the radio. That cuts power to the unit and therefore resetting it. Disconnecting the correct fuse should do the same thing.

My ice>Link has not lock up for the past two weeks! I don't know what I did differently. How about you guys?

One more thing, do any of you have CAN-View? When ice>Link locks up, CAN-View screen won't show up. Do any of you have the same problem?

My wife's locked up last week some time. She knows how to reset it now, so she doesn't always tell me when it happens. However, there have been times when it's gone a couple of weeks without problem and times when it's gone only a couple of days.

Data point: Mine locked up (again) three days ago. Had to manually unplug to reset. No CAN-view. It had been working for about two weeks prior to this last reset.

I keep checking the Dension webpage, but no update yet...

Anybody receive any response from Dension? I emailed them two days ago, and no reply yet. It's been more than 2-3 weeks they said in their email. I still don't see any firmware update on their website. My ice>Link locked up 3 times in one day!

I purchased my Dension ICE link approximately 1 month ago. I, too, ran into the problem of it locking up. However, before I checked on Prius chat for a resolution, I opened a new ticket with Dension Support on May 24th. I received an e-mail stating they had opened a new ticket, but I never received another e-mail from their Support group. (Even if they had sent me a quick response stating they would get back to me in 2-3 weeks, I would have appreciated that more than not responding at all.

After reading the post on this forum, I went ahead and took apart the whole dash again, without taking apart the monitor, or radio since I was able to access the ICE Link plug. After unplugging it and plugging it back in, It was still locked up. I ended up having to take apart the monitor and radio to unplug it from the back of the radio and plug it back into the back of the radio in order for it to work!

While I was putting it all back together again, I thought that maybe if I tried to put the plug behind the plastic "hump", that the next time this would happen, that maybe unplugging the ICE Link by itself would fix the problem. No such luck. It just froze again tonight and so I ventured behind the plastic "hump" and tried unplugging it and plugging it back in again. Well, I was sadly dissappointed to find this didn't work again.

I went ahead and opened a new ticket again with Dension as for some reason, my e-mail address was no longer valid when I tried to log in to Dension's website. I thought I may have just forgot the password, but their website had stated that my e-mail address was not registered with them, even though they had sent me a reply from my original ticket just stating they would be reviewing all tickets and only answering those that required "individual" attention.

Needless to say, this has been a frustrating experience. However, I did just read that I can unplug the "dome" fuse and re-attach it to recycle the power as well? I was wondering if anybody might be able to give me schematics on which fuse is #39 and where the fuse box is located? I would greatly appreciate it as I really don't feel like having to go back behind the radio to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance for your time and attention regarding this matter.

I wasn't sure if Dension had just posted this on their support, or if had been there for a while, but there was a link posted named: Firmware update when menu is not available (manual update). I wasn't sure if this was the firmware update that would help our situation, or not, but if you want to check it out, the link is:

    http://support.dension.com/support-center/...&mod_id=2&id=55

    The solution they give is:

Follow the steps below to update firmware when menu is not available:

    # Delete previous update files and reset iPod.
    # Copy the update package to iPod (cca 750 files).
    # Copy the Start_Update.mp3 onto iPod.
    # Disconnect iPod from PC.
    # Power on the car radio and change source to ice>Link (CD changer).
    # Select Browse/Genres/_config/Menu/Update/Start_Update song and play it on iPod.
    # While playing, insert iPod into the cradle or connect the dock cable; update process will start automatically.
After about 5 minutes, ice>Link will restart with the new firmware.
    # While displaying "Dont browse.." message you can check version number in the top right corner
    of the screen.

I had a couple of questions pertaining to this:

    1. Will this fix the problem of the Ipod locking up

    2. If so, How are we able to copy files over to the Ipod through the computer. I have a docking station, but haven't seen a folder where we can store information for the Ipod.

Again, thanks in advance for all your help!

I bet you unplugged the wrong cable. The ice>Link device has two cables going into it. One has a round plug, which goes to the cradle, and the other has a rectangular plug, which goes to the radio. If you unplugged the round one and plugged it back in, then that won't do anything. Unplugging the rectangular one is that same as unplugging it from the radio.

As far as I am aware, they haven't released the firmware fix for this problem yet. Your ice>Link should already have the most currently released firmware.

I plan on bugging them again next monday. At that point, it will have been 4 weeks since they told me they would have something for me in 2 weeks. And 11 weeks after they told me that would have something in 4 weeks.
