Between the 2 (too small even for EU Standards) cup holders, there is a section that can be pushed down - what for?

    Check your 12 volt battery.
*Well I didn't want to repeat, it's for the handle of a cup.

I really like the cup holders tension wings. (that's what I'm calling them). They do a great job holding different size cups. I didn't have them on my Gen 2. So I don't know if there new on the Gen 4

Everyone else has answered it. It's for the handle of your mug or tumbler.

They're new. There were no adjustable cupholders (or variable size cupholders) in the Gen 3. We sacrificed a covered cupholder (Gen 2 and 3) for the ability to handle various sizes in the Gen 4.

Cup holders are perfect size! I have always wondered why in earth they are so big always. Half liter bottle fits now perfectly there.

My "double-Gulp" fits snugly into the cup holder - that is the standard that all cup holders should be measured with...

My protein shake bottle doesn't really fit, unless I press it in...at least it doesn't tip over.
For sure 0.5L bottles are perfectly inside. Essentially the holders are based on the typical plastic bottle sold at vending machines everywhere in Japan... ;)

You know, I have to admit... I haven't even opened the hood yet. In the 6+ weeks I've owned it... never opened and look inside - yet! Anybody else want to admit to that?

At least I have something to look forward to!

Yeah, I know you're right. It's not like we have an oil or temperature gage inside. We certainly shouldn't assume the dealer properly pepped the car.

I'm a total Prius rookie. ("Noob?") One of the first things I did at the dealership, was to pop the hood so I could check out all that modern technology. Pretty amazing. Although, it kinda just looks like a normal 4-cyl engine. I'm also a little obsessive about checking the oil level every couple of weeks.

(Now I'm trying to figure out how to open the air filter box. I release the two latches, but after that, nothing budges! You would think a 62 yr old man could change a simple air filter!!)

It looks like you have to loosen the clip on the hose to the box and slide the box lid to your right to pull the hose off and then lift the lid up a little to pull the filter out.

If you are parked in your garage under a supported garage door opener you can press the button down then press both left and right steering wheel select buttons to activate the home automation screen. You can do cool stuff like set your thermostat, have lights come on automatically, record broadcast TV shows, etc.

    ........ just joshing......
