I am currently shopping for a Prius. I've noticed there are 3 options for radios. No screen, little screen, and big screen.

Is there one that is better than the other? Are there options on one that the other doesn't have?

Hope that makes sense. I prefer keeping a OEM appearance. Am I better off getting the no screen radio (easier to find) and adding a aftermarket Nav radio from crutchfield.

i believe you are. prius radio/nav pretty much stink. i would get the cheapest one, and go aftermarket with all the things you want.

Our 2010 Canadian Touring has the JBL stereo, no screen. Fine by me. Back up camera displays in the rear view mirror, though I never really use it: the field of view is so funhouse wide it's hard to relate distances.

Does the gen 3 display car related info like the gen 2?

Will the no screen radio still play iPod/iPhone music?

I'm posting from memory about the 3rd Gen (2013) when I was shopping. That's when the MFD was made available in the Prius 2 (although a slightly larger screen was available on the Prius 3 and higher). I couldn't understand why the Prius C seemed to omit the MFD completely.

I'm sure whatever you get will do the job of OEM if it's an OEM unit. I can only think that the lack of a full MFD deprives you of a "touch screen" interface and the most likely place of the backup camera display.
