I've been spoiled by my SKS - I have NEVER put the fob in the 'ignition' or the key in the door.

The last two afternoons, I jumped into my 6-week-old Prius, put my foot on the brake, shifted the nob into 'Reverse' and wondered why the back-up camera didn't come on. I'd forgotten to push the POWER button!

So my SKS senses that the key is in the vicinity of the Prius - I like that!

But when can I get an upgrade to an SKS that senses and reacts to the fob-holder's intentions? :)

Have you tried to go into an older "stupid" car and wondered why the door didn't just unlock? Now that's spoiled. Been there, done that.

I like your SKS upgrade, been there, done that too. I'm pretty sure all SKS users have at one time or other.

I have felt really silly the few two times that I did not have the fob on me, but for some reason thought that I did. Both times I managed to be confused for a few momments. I'm way spoiled. My wife thinks it's funny when I walk by it in the driveway at night and the lights come one.

I'm spoiled too...I want my house to open without a key! Then I could just leave the keys in my purse and never misplace them :D

Yes, been there with all of that myself. I was devistated one day when the SKS stopped working properly. I thought my battery was dying. I even changed the battery in the FOB to no avail. But it always worked when I was tinkering with it.

Then I figured it out - the FOB does not like to be in close proximity with my cell phone! When I stopped putting my phone directly in my pocket (got a new belt clip), it started working as expected once again. Yay! heh.. So, if you have a similar perplexing experience, try the proximity with the cell phone.

I think everyone of us wishes we could have SKS in every door we use! Whenever something does not work properly (which is not often) I usually do think it is my fault (which is usually the case). Although I have not had any issues with starting the car, I have had issues with hitting the little black button with my thumb when trying to open the door. The Prius has taught me how to re-train my thumb and everything is wonderful!

In the manual, it says that cellphones and other devices that transmit RF signals will interfere with SKS operation.

The first time I drove the Prius in the dark, it really surprised me. I didn't expect it to happen. I like it and it is funny how it lights up when I walk by.

Three weeks of hell while waiting for my prius to be fixed, you mean I actually have to UNLOCK THE DOORS! It won't recognize me?! *curses*

I want to get SKS for my home, my desk at work, and for pretty much everything I need keys for. That way, I truly "NEVER have to fumble through" my purse, which is what the dealer promised me when I was purchasing my prius.

The LIGHTS come on when you are just walking by the car? Mine don't--is it with a high # package, or am I just totally ignorant?

My wife gets annoyed when we take her car, and I put the key in the ignition and say (in a condescending voice), "Oh, how 20th century!"

My wife and I swapped cars for several days (she got the Prius), and I can't tell you how many times I got in, closed the door, and then had to fumble in my pockets to find the key. Also forgot to put the gearshift lever back in P before turning off. And got tired of pushing on the dashboard trying to turn it off!

I, too, have a PRIUS SKS-trained thumb. Do you think we can convince Toyota to issue certificates to us?

    Ouch!

So when are you going to become a 2 Prius family?

If your wife is tired of hearing that, try this one: "Ignition keys are SO last millenium" :p

I had a similar experience last weekend driving my wife's pickup. I got in, buckled up, adjusted the mirrors, and then sat there staring at the dash wondering what to do when my wife helpfully chimed in: "Keys!"

If your car has SKS, the interior lights will go on when the car is locked and the fob is in the vicinity of the SKS sensors.

I bought some buttons and magnets (from CafePress) with the Prius "Power" button on them. Today I put one on the dash in my wife's car, so that I have something to push (albeit non-functional) when I get in or out of the car. :)

The gear to do this is out there; all it takes is money.
