Many of you may have noticed that the manual states that you can roll all of your windows down by holding the unlock button on your window, but this is disabled by default. I just had my alarm installed on our four touring and had my buddy in the service department enable it for me and tweak the door locks.

By default when you unlock the driver door using the door handle sensor it only unlocks the driver door, i understand this is a security feature, but it is annoying as hell. I have 2 kids, and its a pain because no matter how i do it i end up having to unlock the doors using 2 methods. Turns out this feature can be disabled as well. Now when i use the key fob, or the door handles, its one press and all doors are unlocked. All he had to do was hook his tablet up to the port and change a couple options.

EDIT: as it turns out there is in fact an door lock option that can be changed using the settings on the entune system.

Yes, I have had my last 2 cars setup for only the driver's door to unlock (with FORD, you would press the unlock twice on the key). However, in Australia Prius is setup to unlock all doors - I need to change it to only one. I can't find in the manual how to do it, but I do remember reading on PriusChat that it's a user-change function.

    From the FWIW department...

On my US 2016 Prius v Three I can go to Setup > Vehicle > Vehicle Customization > Door Lock Settings and change how the vehicle unlocks or locks doors and which ones. Is that what you mean?

I believe gen 4 is the same. Mine defaulted to just the driver's door, but I changed it in vehicle customizations. I don't think you need to connect to port for this, at least not in the US. But yes, you need to have service take care of the "all windows down from fob" with the port unless you have a device for that purpose.. J

Yes, it's very easy in the settings. I have mine set to only unlock the driver's door when I touch the handle... but its simple to change to unlock all 4 doors. No need for a trip to the dealer.

    OR...

Just click the unlock button on the FOB two times, and all 4 doors will unlock.

With both my Gen2 & Gen3 I could change the behavior via the key fob too. No need for a trip to the dealer.

I would be really surprised if this wasn't possible on the Gen4

i changed mine so my wife wouldn't have to wait in the rain or hot sun while i reached inside to hit the all unlock button. which i inevitably forgot to do on one too many occasions.

Yes, that's what I'd like - I guess it comes from my previous job in a rather tough job in a down-market neighbourhood, and one potentially scary incident. I had it activated on my last 2 cars, but it was outlined in the Owner's manual how to do it by a sequence of key-presses and holds.

But in my Prius Manual, there is no option to do this shown under :Door Lock Settings. I went to the car and for some reason it wouldn't bring up "Vehicle Settings" option under Settings which should have been after "Meter Settings" according to the manual. I'll try again after my next drive.

You are absolutely correct, I can't believe i missed that when i was scouring through the settings. I wish there was an option to unlock all doors with a long door handle hold, or maybe a double tap.

I used the hack of holding the unlock and lock buttons down for 5 seconds and the car now unlocks all four doors with a single tap of the unlock button.

Wow, I missed that completely krmcg. Is that in the manual? If not, how did you come up with that? J

We need one of those "missing manuals for the Prius" like the software books David Pogue of NYT used to write. Then we would know all of the secrets to operating a Prius ;) Seriously though, the user manual, though lengthy, is quite good, and covers most everything. J

duplicate post, is it possible for the poster to delete these double posts when they occur? Perhaps I need a manual for using this forum.

I tried this - with the car locked, with it unlocked, with POWER on and the door closed. None worked. I assume it's the unlock and lock buttons on the FOB? Or did I miss something - I actually want to go the opposite way - to only unlock the Driver's door, but I'd assume it might be the same action. Any more clues?

I did it unpowered. Pressed both buttons on the FOB and the car responded with a series of beeps. Worked on my Hybrid Avalon too. Maybe only in America?
