Just bought 2016 Prius 3 touring! I'm so happy with it. Is it ok to drive it on Eco mode on the freeway?? I'm trying to get the best mpg!!

    Congrats!!

You can drive it in any mode you want :) It mostly modifies the pedal input so it depends on your driving style. If you prefer greater control and a less sensitive pedal, stay in Eco. If you drive hard and like a touchy pedal, use PWR mode! Of course there's also normal mode for that balance.

For mpg, use S-Flow (there's a button on the climate control with air flowing to teh front and a X to the rear passenger). Use that to change S-Flow modes. You can also use Eco Heat/Cool on the climate control to reduce power consumption of the A/C unit in the summer and less aggressive heating in the winter. Of course, be aware that it will take longer to heat/cool the cabin since you are restricting output but if you live in a mild climate, you may not even notice!

Oh good, another Drive Mode thread! :)

First, read the Owner's Manual. Then take your time, and experiment with all 3 drive modes. I drove for a month (or two) in each mode, and I'm finding out that the gas mileage has been the same in every mode.

So I am keeping things simple, and just choosing the mode that feels the best to me. (Your mileage might vary, and so might your feelings....:ROFLMAO:)

I want to jump in here and say that, in general, Toyota won't make it easy for you to damage your car.

If you run it out of gas and then keep driving until the battery dies you can hurt the battery. If you run out of engine oil you can hurt the engine. If you drive into buildings or other cars you can hurt the body. Don't do these things, but nothing that seems normal is bad for the car.
