Picked up Black 2006 pkg 7 monday evening after orderring it on 04/04.

Bought a bluetooth phone and got that working, T-mobile Motorola V360, works great --- no OBEX file transfer, but one phone number at a time worked. No battery level indicatior on the MFD.

Still figuring out Jill. This is my first NAV system. I will not be installing a NAV override. I can't keep my eyes on the road.

Half done with the first tank, and was getting only 44 mpg. Put my mind to it, got into a hypermiler mantra like state (tried to, but w/ a/c), and tank estimated mileage has gone slightly over 50. There seems to be a real way to drive this to get that extra 5+ mpg. While working on enhancing mpg, i wish to not slow down fellow drivers, and i seem to notice that a great number of people are driving to enhance mpg, too.

I really like the SKS keyless system. Wish one could encrypt a code through the bluetooth phone, securely, that would allow one to not even carry the key.

This is a very sophisticated automobile.

    I am enjoying it.

OK very nice but spill the beans we want the gore. 6 accidents. Details. Gallons of blood spilt. Screams of despair. You tell us about tanks and Bluetooth and SKS!

oops, sorry. i just am paying too much attention to punching buttons on the NAV system, and switching between NAV and Trip Monitor, and not enough to the road.

I need a little more discipline.

On my maiden voyage out of Helena MT I was cruising along on the road between Helena and Missoula and fooling with the MFD and almost lost it in to the river... then over corrected toward the cliff. Good thing no one was on the road and the car is fairly nimble. I reluctantly started to watch the road. You can't goof off on a two lane road in the mountains at 75 mph! I think that there were already three road side crosses at the turn!

You really have to get used to watching the road more than playing with the screen. I remember when I was on my first few weeks in my new '06 just leaving a dog show and I was hungry so I gave the voice command "I'm hungry" and it pointed out all the restaurants. I was touching the restaurant icons one by one looking for a good place to eat while I was driving (wasn't familiar with the area) and as I looked up at the road... oops, there goes a stop sign... I drove right by it and didn't even slow down. Fortunately there wasn't anyone else in sight, could have been a bad one. But I have learned to watch the road and I have become much more familiar with the system and being able to use more voice commands and short-cuts.

Yes, the problem isn't in the car but in the phones. Some phones allow file transfer, others don't Just one of the things we didn't know about when we signed up with Verizon, etc.

So far, you can only do the NAV override on a 2006 through surgery. The devices sold for earlier year Priuses don't work on ours. But, if you have some pre-set destinations installed, you can select them while moving. I can select "Home," for example, from anywhere I happen to be and it'll take me there, even underway.

But be careful. California just decided to make it illegal to talk on a cell phone (in-hand) in your car because it is dangerous. When the word gets around about what we are doing in our Priuses we're all going to jail!
