I would not rule out a bad battery. If the coolant was drained when doing the water pump, air could be in the system, causing another problem.

I recommend not doing multiple repairs at once.....make sure 1 system is repaired before going onto another. Now you have no idea what is causing your issue since you've done 3 things at once.

Yes, there is fuel. After the swap, the tech drove the car about 2 minutes to make sure the codes were cleared.

it takes more than 2 minutes for the computer to detect a problem. That is in no way saying the repair was successful, driving 2 minutes without a detected problem. But hopefully the mechanic will stand behind his repair, the dealer will give you the honest truth

When it was at Toyota they diagnosed those repairs as necessary but my mechanic did the water pump for 180.00 vs. the 530.00 Toyota quoted and was okay with the battery being replaced at his place since the car was handling poorly. It made sense to get everything done and have the car out of commission for what should have been just a few days instead of driving back and forth every couple days for a different job to be done and risk breaking down.
I used a battery service that comes out and they have been in constant touch but don't think it's the battery since those codes aren't coming up.

Did you know there's 2 water pumps on the car? Well no need to guess. You are bringing it back to Toyota and you'll know what needs attention.....but I would be afraid of the bill for diagnostic

Yes, I was aware of the 2 and my mechanic showed me my old one and the pink leakage. Toyota has waived the previous diagnostic fees as I've complained about the three times they lied to me about unnecessary work over the past few years so I usually get it diagnosed there and take it to my mechanic :)

Well most likely it's not your water pump, as the errors still point to hybrid function problems. Soon we'll find out.

Update: Toyota pulled the code P0AA6 and said it's the HV battery. Had it towed back to the mechanic and the battery replacement person said they'll come early next week to replace it. Hope that one works (n)

HV leak in a newly installed battery.....wow. I wonder if that dealer diagnostic is correct. I guess we'll find out soon.

The battery was replaced last night and driven about half an hour last night and this morning - no codes so far. YAY!
However, my entire display didn't come on. This has happened several times over the past year and Toyota said they could replace it at a pretty hefty price, but that it wasn't imperative to fix. I'll search around on here and see what recommendations I find. It's the panel that shows odometer/fuel etc.

There was an extended warranty for the combination meter for 9 years but you are over that time frame. There are companies that repair the combination meter but it's labor intensive to remove it and you have to wait while you send it out for repair.

Maybe you can call Toyota and ask for a goodwill warranty for the combination meter repair? Just tell them you know they have a 9 year extended warranty but since you are over, you would like them to cover the repair with a goodwill warranty

Wow, thanks I will try it. They should have the documentation from when they diagnosed it last year so I would think that helps.
