Wow that's a service grip, the battery orange plug. Takes 5 seconds to take off. I would question how the heck that gets corroded. It's impossible, I wouldn't pay unless they can produce the old part

Not much is impossible. I once left a capped bottle of muriatic acid in a tool cabinet. I'm still fighting the corrosion those vapors caused on everything in the cabinet. Who knows what gets transported in the back of a car.

Bisco, tell me about HV batteries. I trust your knowledge. I parked car last eve, screen showed all Green,
this AM, only 1 bar showed purple?, or red. Drove 2 miles, meter slowly rose. Any idea what is going on?
Oh yeh, Dealer couldn't find the service grip they said they replaced. said it was in the trash..........

If there's a leak, it didn't come from the grip. I would think a module has leaked and that's why your battery is doing what is doing now.

I would hang on to that receipt, you're going to need it soon to argue your money back. Not being able to produce a replaced part is a big no no

Do you ever hear the battery fan come on (grille on right side of back seat)?

Yes: they underlined "battery plug". Which they alledgedly replaced.....I also got the record dating back to 9/30/2013 showing the same code POAA6. How do I involve the Factory Rep? Google doesn't help !

No, never heard the fan run, but then I am lacking somewhat in the hearing department. Should hear it with my 2 hearing aids. Thanks to the VA for supplying them.

you can call toyota customer service in your manual. google say that's the code for high voltage leak. then, the toyota code reader gives more specific codes, and the service manual has a troubleshooting tree.

Another comment.......parked the car last eve. All green on the HV indicator.
This AM down to 2 purple bars on startup.
But does rise almost to top after 2-3 miles.

there is maybe another hi voltage leak, draining the battery overnight. that is not normal. did it do that before you had the grip replaced?

you may want to check with your consumer affairs/atty generals office. in some states, replaced parts have to be given to the customer.

i would call them and tell them what the battery is doing. see posts 10 and 12 for good info.

Rapidly changing state of charge and excess heat (battery fan running) are two obvious indicators of bad battery health.

I don't think the leak that the diagnostic system is sensing is "draining" enough energy to make that much of a difference in the battery's state of charge. But that's just a gut feeling. There could be another load being left on, but that's not a fault and there wouldn't be a code. It could be a failing HV battery, but let's sure hope not.
