Ok, the manual says to inspect the oil but how do you check the differential oil?

Surely someone has checked or inspected the differential oil as it states in the maintenance schedule. From what I've read in the manual, it states to inspect the differential oil every 30,000 miles but I don't see any form of dipstick for it.

You have to remove a filler plug on the front of the transaxle and
check that the fluid level is up to just under the level of that
hole. May be slightly messy. Removing some of the plastic under-
    cover first is probably advisable.

I noticed a couple of drops of in my garage that seemed to come from the rear of the car. The fluid looked like hershey's syrup had no decernable smell but with only about 3000 miles on the car I wouldn't expect funky odors. I tried to look up under the car but it's way too low to the ground to see much. I was hoping it was just something I picked up off the road but I'm thinking I have a leak.I just noticed it for the first time today I cleaned up the spots and will watch and see if it happens again. I may be taking it in for service a bit early. :(

Any ideas what it could be? I would appreciate any insight others may have.

the *rear*? There aren't any fluid reservoirs back there except
the gas tank, as far as I know. Make sure it isn't brake fluid...

Blood. Fess up or we will need to make a call. Its OK to hit anything small as long as you have not damaged your car. If you damaged the car it may not go well for you. BTW if you have a differential ( I need a ruling here, do we have a differential?) it is in front. There is this chain tinge and reduction gears. I guess that might be a differential?

I looked this morning and no new drops of fluid on the garage floor. I havn't hit anything that I know of. My wife could have but I'll withhold that judgement until I'm able to see if the problem persists or if there is even a problem to begin with.

I didn't think there were any reserviors in the rear of the car but that's where the spotting was. I thought brake fluid at first but It's been years since I've done any real work on my cars and unless my memory is bad, brake fluid is clear not chocolate colored, correct?

At the very least I'm a little worried because a 1 month old car shouldn't be leaking anything.

I would call it "transparent light straw". See color sample in your brake fluid reservoir. Note the fluid level there, since you're looking.
