New engine splash shield

    Interesting project.
    Seems easy enough to remove if access for oil change or etc is needed.
    Aluminum keeps the light weight of plastic plus the AL won't rust.
    AL shield can take an impact over plastic.
    OP's goal...longer service life... AL vs OEM shield....if that was it, OK.

    Non the least now the OP can challenge a Rav 4 on off road trails...joke.

    I been driving my truck for the last two months though at 17mpg because cars splash shields and passenger side wheel well liner were badly ripped up

    The stock engine underpanel has a lot of ins-and-outs, complicated hole pattern, and insulated zones. There's also several openings; the large circular opening for example: it's to allow you to use the front/central jacking point.

    Nice job!
    Did you bend up the front lip? What kind of fasteners are holding it up underneath? (Seem to be bolts but cannot see for sure.)

    Just up against front lip and using self tap screws right now when I have to remove I'll have correct spots to tap the holes for actual bolts into the frame
