Thinking of buying a 2017 Gen 4 Eco, but would want at least a donut spare, so these questions:
Would my slightly-used donut spare from my 2013 Gen 3 hatchback fit as a spare tire on a Gen 4?
Would there be any way to create space in the rear for storing a donut-sized spare tire or do I have to figure out some other solution? Thanks in advance for info or ideas, but must have at least a donut spare in any new car, and would prefer a full-sized spare.

not sure about the 2013 fitment, but some have cut the styrofoam filler underneath to fit a spare, and others have purchased the correct styro parts and replaced them.

if i were you, with the way gen 4 is selling, after i made my best deal, i would ask for new styro, and tyre if the gen 3 doesn't fit. all the best with your purchase!(y)

On a related note, does anyone know how to remove the foam inserts on a non-spare Gen 4 car? They seem to be floating loosely, but something appears to be holding them down on the sides and towards the front of the car. Am interested in consolidating the emergency repair stuff and freeing up some storage space under there, but want to avoid damaging these things as I remove them.
