I've been keeping my eyes open for ANY Prii here where I live. I still haven't seen any. But today at the hardware store, I parked next to a white Honda Insight. I've never seen one before. When I came out of the store, I mistook it for my Prius.... just briefly. Yes, they do look vastly different but they DO have the same basic outline. Okay, I'll go hide in my corner and wear a dunce cap.

I think the Honda Insight is a better looking car. I like the dash too. Too bad they screwed up the design so it isn't really competitive with the Prius. I believe the Insight is no longer on the market. My best friend has one and he likes it.

i especially like when the a/c shuts off at stoplights with the engine on 90 degree days.

I like the exterior styling of the Honda too. It did seem to be a smaller car. I'm still happy with the Prius. I think it looks cool. But I do know my sense of style is on the eclectic side.

Apparently that can be over-ridden but of course that doesn't help the mileage.

With civic hybrid AC would stay on at AutoStop, well for a reasonable time. After 4-5 minutes the engine might kick in.

Also, certain settings would prevent AutoStop, shifting to S (Sport) for one. That's one tactic that maybe could keep AC running in the Insight. But yeah at the expense of preventing AutoStop.

I do believe that it is the Sport mode that keeps my friends Insight running so the AC keeps working.

I drive 60mi everyday and see many Gen 4 Prii in my commute. This after I have read in the news that hybrid car sales are down due to low gas prices. I guess gas prices are still high compared to the rest of the country lol. (2.29-2.69 regular in my 'hood).

Still hoping the new car's look will grow on me.... in a few years.

To the untrained eye, the insight does look like the iconic Prius at first glance. Indeed, I actually checked this car out, before moving on to buy the Prius. Yes, they do have the generally same basic shape - methinks a sly move by Honda, to steal some of the Prius sales. That big "Hybrid" sign on the back was keen seduction technique.

Despite its rather cute good looks, I turned the Honda Insight flat down for the following reasons:

    1) It had what I'd term a pseudo-hybrid system .

    2) The electric motor only delivered all of 13hp or less, and couldn't move the car independently. Compare that with the 67hp motor on the Prius II, that will carry you a mile or more down the road in EV mode.

    3) The interior was much smaller, the drivers position was relatively cramped. The dashboard wasn't futuristic enough; the model with an LCD screen looked as if they'd tacked the LCD screen in as an afterthought.

    4) The A/C shuts down at engine cut off. It utilised archaic start stop technology.

    5) It didn't look like a Shuttlecraft from the hangar deck of the Federation Starship Enterprise.

So, I went for the Prius with its far more advanced and revolutionary technology .

Saw a silver touring and sea glass Gen 4 yesterday near my work driving around.

Oh and another thing I noticed was the side profile of the new Honda Civic looks an awful lot like the new Prius. It actually confusedo_O me when I saw one from the side till it drove on by and I realized it was a civic.

Hey, ain't imitation the ultimate form of flattery?(y)

My friend has the sport Lexus in red and if you look by the doors the prius look like it has that same design. I wish we had the same suspension as the lexus.

I think they ALL look like hyped-up running shoes these days, couldn't say who started it. Hyundai?

Verified that the physical key doesn't trigger the signal flashes on lock/unlock. It turns out that you have the option (free, no Carista required) in the vehicle customization menu (US models). Click the thumbnail to view the step-by-step starting from the settings menu (off of the home screen). I followed this sequence with the car in READY; IGN-ON mode will probably work, but the list of options may be smaller if the car is only in accessory mode.

I like those flashes though: if you're about 30' from the car, forgot to lock, trying with the fob, and there's ambient noise about, drowning out the beep: the flash is a good confirmation that it did lock.

Agreed, but the original context was in the case of people stargazing (or similar) where the flashes in such a dark environment would be most unwelcome.

I drove down to the bay area last weekend to visit with a friend for a few days. For the first 120 miles... no Prii. Once I got into Gilroy, I started seeing lots of Gen 3's. Two or three every mile. I didn't see any Gen 4's all weekend or on the way home. I didn't look much on the way home though. I was busy with a new route and playing with my stereo.
