I need help. I had done a lot of research into and made a great choice with Prius. I knew I wanted it and drove the purchasing process. Unfortunately I did not put enough research into XM which I really wanted but was told by the salesman they did not offer it. I got my sweeeet Red Prius on Thursday and have found so much great info online, but now I want my integrated XM, that I found IS AVAILABLE! I wish I could have had it come with the vehicle... I called the Salesman and he wasn't aware of it, he has directed me in circles with service and others. Service wants to install a Delphi external, but I explained I wanted an integrated unit. The latest response was that unless I saw the option for Satellite on my radio I could not get the integrated unit. Can someone help me or provide me with a path for THEM to get help?

The bottom line is that Toyota does offer an integrated XM radio option. Your best bet is just to find another dealer that is more knowledgable or more willing to order the unit and install it for you.

I never saw the SAT mode until I installed my XM, which I got from factory interactive.

I see that you have a package 1. Does anyone know if the low end stereo has satellite input capability? I know it exists on the high end stereo, just not sure of the low end one.

Oh no! Did I mess myself up with the wrong option! I didn't want the smart key and back up camera.

You should have no problems with an integrated XM setup.

While there appears to be a new XM receiver that will display 16 characters (toyota part: 86180-0W030) many dealers are now reported to be installing the same receiver used by MetroTPN, CoastalElectronics, and FactoryInteractive. This is the same radio used in the Toyota Camry Solara XM kit and has the 10 character limit.

There is one report in this forum of a dealer stating that the new install kit is for the cars with the Nav system only. This has not been confirmed and is probably wrong. There is also one report of a dealer charging more for the "new" radio because it would work with the base radio (non-JBL). This is also not confirmed. There are reports that the current Sirius install using the Sirius kit for the Solara is NOT compatible with the base radio in the Prius and this dealer might have been confused.

If you can not get confirmation that your car can get the offical Toyota installation for the Prius then I would certainly get the kit from FactoryInteractive (www.priusxm.com).

I recently sold my Factory "Solara" XM radio and replaced it with a Vais Tech SLX. I took pictures of the factory XM Radio and posted them here:

This is the version with the 10-character limit I bought from Coastal E Tech.
