Bill O'Reilly was a registered Republican from 1994-2000 then changed to Independent. Here is his political leanings, courtesy of Wikipedia: (there are many more Conservative views so one could conclude from the facts given, that he is Conservative.)

    Views regarded as conservative
His stances on American foreign policy (the war in Iraq)
Supports using the American military to enforce the United States-Mexico border
    Opposes the estate tax
    Supports a flat tax
    Opposes race-based affirmative action
Supports intelligent design taught in public schools
    Supports domestic surveillance programs
Supports banning most forms of abortion
O'Reilly is an outspoken opponent of former president Bill Clinton and Janet Reno, and has referred to the two jointly as the "Clinton-Reno regime".[9] He has praised John Ashcroft in comparison to Reno, whom he called the worst attorney general in history.[10]
He has also said that he does not believe voters should any longer trust the Democratic party, and summed up his opinion with the following statement: "The truth is that the Democratic party has been hijacked by the far left and really can't persuade anyone anymore."[11]
Supported the Impeachment of Bill Clinton
Supports the "Don't ask don't tell" policy and opposes openly declared homosexuals in the military

    Views regarded as moderate
Supports placing higher taxes on vehicles that consume more gas
Support for President Clinton's opposition to Slobodan MiloÅ¡ević
Supports guest-worker program for undocumented immigrants
Has shown some support for gay adoption
Opposes prostitution on grounds of "laziness" rather than any moral problem with it [7]
He considers global warming an established fact.[12]

    Views regarded as liberal
Criticism of free-market economics in the oil industry
    Supports income-based affirmative action
"60 Minutes" reported that he has left-leaning views on gun control.
States he opposes death penalty (although has at times argued in favor of death penalty[13])

Another reason I can't stand, nor do I pay any attention to, anything that Bill O'Reilly says.

Not that I givea fig about O'Really's views, but this is a curious division. I'm not sure what is meant by moderate and I'm too lazy to google for some polls. I would lump "don't ask, don't tell" in the moderate group. I'd put higher taxes on gas hogs in the liberal column. I'd also put domestic surveillance in the moderate group. Nobody outside the beltway seems to give a damn. There are other but you get the picture.

Wow, read it all and am truly amazed, NOT... Thanks conservative few for defending reason.. RATINGS and viewership clearly show that the People of this country are SICK of left idealogies. A right winger like me in a Prius...it is CLEAR thinking and independent views based on ALL imputs, that have brought me here to the best decision, in light of all the ARAB actions, and what-ever., that is causing this oil to cost so darn much. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH A POLITICS!!! If you all environmentalist and "tree huggers" really cared about the world and its people, you would simply push this car for what it does., no political idealogy along with it. The thread never belonged here, it belonged in FHOP., and as for O'reilly, he's just another news prop., and people should just take in all sides, and then make their views, and preferably in the ballot box., not the soap box.

ps I come here for TECHNICAL and informational news to make better use of my Prius. Danny has a place called FHOP for venting the views, been there, done that, and may do it again. PS anyone has news about good pricing on PHEV.., been sighting some stories there, and I think that this is a good next step for all here to PUSH, AND PROD, and get the wheels turning. Is this board not set up for

    1) Getting people to use this and similar products
    2) Reducing negative effects of this country's oil addiction
    3) Reduce our dependence on foreign oil
    4) Help the people drive more AFFORDABLY
    5) Get the most out of this product, ECONOMY WISE

The PHEV concept, whereby additional batteries provide additional EV range, and reduce or eliminate gas consumption during short and slower commutes, is A MAJOR problem to be overcome, by a large number of Prius owners, getting lower economy. We do not drive far enough to work everyday to benefit from the economy afforded by the current system. The re-charging off the "grid" would not only be more economical it would also be more "environmental friendly".

Best I know so far is there are 2 companies offering systems, one in Canada and the other in California. Prices are still pretty high, the California unit is about $12,500, and the other is about $9,500.

There you go libs., show your stripes and get this off the ground..then you can really claim to be doing something, instead of the same old criticisms...it gets old..

I'm so wanting a plug-in option for the Prius...so much so that I'd turn Republican to get it done...no, really, whatever it takes. Hydrogen is not happening in cars...electricity is here and now, as well as amazing battery technology...just give me the choice.

    Cheers,

    Curt.

You have your opinion on this I see and that's great!

One favor though....and who cares if this is FHOP or not, it's a thread and it's evolving.....when the Democrats are in power in a few years and YOU don't like it...you can't say a damn thing! You can't! You criticize us for discussing issues (you see it as whining, criticizing, etc..) but when you're unhappy in a few years, please be quiet and accept it, or go and vote and change the government. That's what we're trying to do. Change the government. This is a forum where we exchange ideas. With words. That's all we can do here. I guess we could virtually march, but that's lame.

The act of buying a Prius is not connected to the endorsement of any polictical party I beleive is the point that was being made.

The Prius is mainstream baby !

We counted 42 Prius on our 110 mile drive to LA and back this weekend ! Sweet....

All of those things are political; politics is more than voting once every four years. (But yes, this topic should be in FHOP.)
