How much do these wheels and tires weigh?

This should probably be in the Mods section, sorry. I know others have the TC wheels. I have the Enkei EFPC option with the Pirelli's. Has anybody put these on? I haven't taken one off yet to weigh, but I did the magnet check, and these are chromed aluminum. I can always get the jack out of the trunk, and take one off, but I was wondering if anybody may know. Do these cars get better mileage after they are broken in? I only have 180 miles. I read the "new owner" thread, but didn't see anything about "break in" mileage. I am averaging about 37 MPG. It's been all 15-20 minute city stop and go driving so far. I took one trip today for close to an hour an averaged a little more than 43 MPG at 70 MPH. I am pretty happy with the mileage so far, as my CTS averaged 19 MPG. ;)

Many believe there is a break in boost. I think I saw it. I am sure there are a number of factors that contribute to the observation. Reducing the tire and wheel weight will help.

I am running the Scion tC wheels. My best tank so far is 48.5 MPG with the tC wheels. I noticed a MPG increase at my first service (5K miles). The service department at my Toyota dealer installed a synthetic blend of oil. I saw an increase of about 2-3 MPG (seemed like 3MPG improvement according to the screen).

I must say that my biggest increase in MPG came when I started using cruise control. In my old car I was able to manually operate the throttle to achieve better MPG than with cruise control. However, the Prius is different. I use cruise control for traveling 24MPH or faster, and this has made all of the difference.

As the weather warms up, I expect to see 50+ MPG soon, and that's not too shabby for running the heavier tC wheels and tires.

Your MPG will increase over time. See if you notice any improvement after your first service.

Thanks. I drove for an hour today, and averaged 39 MPG according to the display, with cruise control at 70. I realize that I only have 300 miles on the car, but can I be trhrowing away 10MPG? I still have 2 bars left on the fuel gauge. I hope it's just the "new" thing. I bought the car with these wheels from Toyota, and hope that they programmed the size of the tires in the computer to give somewhat correct info.

I just weighed the Enkei's with the Pirelli 17's. They really look alot heavier than they are. If you click on my link at the bottom, these things look like chromed steel, but they are aluminum. They weigh in at a whopping 43.5 lbs. From the posts I've searched, the TC combo appears to weigh the same. I am happy to know that they don't weigh more than the TC's. I am now averaging 42 on this tank. I figured out how to P&G. If there would've been somebody behind me, they would be pissed. Up to 40, down to 30, up to..... you get the drift. When I did that the 5 minute bar indicator was up to 75 MPG. I put the arm rest cover from Prius Hoods on today, and it looks great. The shark fin antenna is on the way. The stock antenna looks like a fishing pole on the roof.... :D

You can really boost your MPGs by setting cruise control between 24-34, if you have any slow parts of your journey.
