There are actually 2 firmware updates for the European version of icelink (maybe the same as US). I'm not sure if it will solve any problems.

    http://install.dension.com/history_3Tx.txt
    http://install.dension.com/ICE-LINK_PLUS_FW_3T3.exe
    http://install.dension.com/ICE-LINK_PLUS_FW_3T3.zip

FYI. I applied the updates to my former icelink (which was working perfectly fine) and didn't notice any difference besides the version number change. After using it for a few weeks, it died (not sure if it has anything to do with the update). Fortunely, I was able to return it to Bestbuy and replace it. The new one worked ever since without the update.

I did try the round plug seeing that I wasn't aware that it even unplugged from the other end. My wife has the car now, but I will try it from the rectangular end this time. Thanks for the input Marlin!!! ^_^

Assuming it's not too late... You should note that there is a latch on the rectangular plug that holds it in. So you probably won't be able to just tug it out without pushing down on some tab.

I was finally able to try it out today and it worked! It was a huge relief because I was thinking about trying to return it if I had to take apart the dash on a weekly basis. Is this a very common problem, or do your think we just have lemons?

It's a known problem. There are at least four of us here that have the problem. Dension has promised me a firmware update several times, but have yet to deliver it.

Emailed them twice, once last week and once this week. No response AT ALL!

Very disappointed. I would suggest this to other's that are thinking of buying this, either go for another product, or be sure to figure out an easy way to reset it (read pervious posts).

    Bump!

Everybody else give up on asking them about firmware upgrades?

I plan to open another support ticket today.

By the way, I discovered last time that if you reply to an old support ticket, it is ignored. If that's what you did, then that may be why you haven't received a response. Open a new support ticket.

If push comes to shove and they don't come out with a fix, I plan to splice a button into the power line of the cable and mount the button under the dash so my wife can just push the button to reset it. It's not my preferred solution, but it should work.

This may have nothing to do with this problem, but I thought I'd put it out there since no one has been able to find a common cause for the event.

When testing the new DICE unit, I had a song with a long title and odd series of characters.

the trouble with love is (acapella) [ www.djmixcontest.com ]

This caused the unit to not update the display to the new title and it wouldn't respond. After removing the [ www.djmixcontest.com ] it worked fine. The only difference is that the new unit doesn't need to be unplugged to get it working again.

Just thought it might be something to consider....

Hmmm, good idea. My wife usually has her ice>Link set up to randomize the playlist, so an abnormal song or title could possibly be the cause of the apparently random problem.

However, from what I understand, the problem doesn't usually occur while she is listening to music, but rather when she starts the car. That's usually when she discovers that it's locked up.

Marlin - If you do implement the button to reset the ice-link, please post (or better yet email me at [email protected]). My unit goes out if a CD is placed in the radio. It used to go out if the steering wheel controls were used. (so I have taken the Dashboard apart many times).

BTW, Inoticed the ice-link plus has been discontinued in the USA!

I agree. It locks up the next time you start the car. So might not have anything to do with the song names.

Is there any kind of power interrupt happening when starting the car? Maybe putting it in Drive/Reverse before the iPod starts or finishes initializing? Shutdown by pushing Park/Power or just Power? Lights on/off? Or as stated before, CD, Radio used? Shuffle on/off? Album Shuffle on/off?

Everybody, put your ideas out there, no matter how crazy they may seem. Who knows, maybe you can find some commonality there.

Will someone post instructions on firmware updating.
I have firmware version 2.02 and think the 3T firmware might help.
I have downloaded the update which consists of about 550 mp3 files, one of which is the start and another might be a menu. I am using a mac so I have Imported them into iTunes. But somehow the names get lost.
Anyway, I assume you make a playlist out of the files ( and pray they are in the right order), and then just play them on the ice-link.
    Is this correct?
    Any caveats.

Lewis, I think some one posted the update instruction before. But I m not sure if that's for a mac tho. I am sure dension's support site has the update instruction too.

Found this on the densionusa site:

Be sure to tell us if 3T helps.

Marlin, did you open a new ticket? What's their response to the "wait 2-3 week for firmware upgrade"?

I've copied this from the DICE iPod group buy thread. Could any of you please confirm whether you do have non-ASCII titles in the tags of your iPod?

Unfortunately, the unit exhibited the behavior of the ice-link. It required pulling the power plug from the DICE box to get the car to recognize the unit.

    History of actions:

    1. 7:30am started car while connecting the iPod. Instead of INIT it showed *, played a playlist with Nu-Shrike's French and Japanese songs, then changed to a different playlist and played a couple more songs. Turned off car at 8:00 and removed the iPod.
    2. 12:00 Used ACC, Turned off Radio Pwr before Pruis screen finished loading. Also used IG-ACC while using console power plug to run portable TV (normal for lunchtime). Adjusted climate settings for air. This isn't unusual behavior for noontime. Turned off car 12:55pm.
    3. 5:00pm Connected iPod, Turned on car and pushed Radio Pwr on. FM started playing. Tried to change mode to CD2, but it wasn't available.

    So to identify odd things:

    Power connected after start.
    Songs with non-ASCII titles.
2 songs with imbedded album art.

It's my wife's iPod and Prius, so I don't offhand know what songs she has loaded on it. I'll look into it this weekend.
