Are you sure it's not Check Hybrid System?

I've never heard of the Check Headlight System message.

When you said you don't have LED headlights, I thought that would rule out the headlight levelling system, but now I'm not sure. Maybe take a look under the rear of the car, about the middle of the main rear cross-beam: is there a linkage (Rear Height Control Sensor) between the beam and the underside of the car body? It looks like this:

Still, I think a trip to the dealership is needed.

Definitely doesn't look like LED. Ours, LED, for reference:

Still, check that rear beam, look for that ride height gizmo. If its present, a DIY you could do is to disconnect one end and check that it's joints are moving freely. It's been known to jamb, could be the fault.

Barring that being the problem, I would be resigned to a dealership visit.

Does it have manual headlight leveling...as in a switch on the dash for you to adjust the aim of the headlights? If so, then it could be that is malfunctioning.

Don't know how the different models are equipped in Jordan, and your photo doesn't look like it has LED headlights, so all I can offer is from the USA Owner's Manual:

If you have a halogen headlight bulb installed just a little bit incorrectly, it can melt the headlight housing, which is very expensive to replace. I would look at that carefully.

Emad, most of us on PriusChat are Americans, so we aren't familiar with any European-only features. In the US Prius models, only the special headlight systems -- HID and LED headlights -- come with the auto-leveling system. But your car is probably Europe spec, and I think to be EU-compliant, a car must have the auto-leveling feature even if it has halogen headlights.

If you can jack up your car's rear, (and use safety stands!) you can inspect for the linkage which Mendel mentions. Maybe it hit a rock or something. The purpose of the linkage is to measure your car's angle, and then it tells a motor in the headlights to tilt up or down. If the linkage is damaged, you will get this fault. But there are other possible causes, like blown fuse, stuck motor, etc. Sometimes, you just disconnect the 12V battery ground, and then re-attach it, and the computer resets and the problem goes away.

Yup, checking if this linkage exists is trivial, doesn't even require a jack. I've even unbolted one end (again without need to jack), and rotated the joints a bit to make sure they're not binding at all.

    (May be a 3 poster...)

If you have that linkage, and if it's seized, stuck, it could be the cause of the warning. Please, go 'round the back of your car, look down and under, see if you have that linkage (per the picture above in post #4).

It may or may not be the problem, but would be good to rule out.

Guess it's middle of the night where you are. When you get a chance. :)

AFAIK it’s only on gen 3 Prius with stock LED headlights.
