    Hello there!

I'm a soon-to-be Prius Alpha (V) owner. I'm living in Taiwan at the moment, and with two kids, the wife and I decided to pick the Prius Alpha to get a better fit. Actually, I'd rather have picked the regular Prius, but the wife felt like the backseats needed more clearance (both she and I are quite tall).

In any case, all the Prius models in Taiwan are brought directly from Japan, and that means the manual and entertainment system are available in Japanese and Chinese only. The vendor promised he would get a solution for that, and he managed to get the manual in English quite fast, but it wasn't until AFTER we signed and made the downpayment that he told us they couldn't change the language of the entertainment system (I smell BS here, it should be as simple as a firmware update, shouldn't it?).

In any case, nice being here. I'm sure I'll enjoy the car, even if it's radically different from my previous one in Europe (a Smart Roadster).

    Cheers!

    Hello and welcome to PriusChat!

    Enjoy your new Prius Alpha.

That is interesting. You would think it'll be in Chinese or English rather than Chinese or Japanese.

Over here in Canada/US, we have English, French (Canadian) and Spanish language options (both text and voice recognition).

WelcomeI'm not positive but I believe you can change the language. I'm sure someone will be along shortly that can answer your question. Again welcome to Prius Chat and congratulations on your new ride

Thanks for the welcome. Since this model is meant for Taiwan, but imported from Japan (Toyota doesn't manufacture any Prius models in Taiwan), the language selection panel only supports Japanese and Chinese.

I would settle for either English or Spanish, since both my wife and I can understand it. My wife is Taiwanese, so she doesn't have any problems with the Chinese language, but since I'll be doing most of the driving, it would be nice to have the English option. I can follow the GPS instructions in Chinese, but I can't read it well enough to set a destination by myself.

Nice choice of car. We recently purchased a 2016 Prius v Three. I originally wanted a regular Prius for the higher gas mileage while my wife wanted more cargo space for our annual trip south over the winter months. The Prius v is a good compromise for us. Enjoy the car and hope you get the language issue resolved.
