I am going to run a hot battery wire to the drivers side to power two things
Do I use the battery ground to do this or do I use just the energized wire and ground to the frame of the car?
    Thanks

Huh? Your positive, 12v wire from the red, positive battery terminal goes to the positive wires of your two devices.

Then each device should have their own ground wire. You can ground them individually, or combine them and ground them together to an exposed frame bolt.

Make sure each device has a fuse on the power (positive) wire.

Forgive my ignorance does that mean I don't have to connect to the negative terminal on the battery ?

The Negative Post of the 12 volt battery just bolts to the frame in the rear. So the whole car is a 12 volt negative connection.
