Had my 06 in for new struts and rear springs (one broken). Mechanic told me there is a thin pencil like structure underneath the car that point down and that is broken. does anyone know what this is? I have the top package, don't recall if that is 8 or 6, but has leather/touring etc.

You don't say what area of the undercarriage you found the broken part (front, back, left, right, center...).
If your 06 has HID headlights, there is a suspension height sensor that has a link connected to the left rear suspension. The height sensor is used for the headlight leveling system.

A cell phone picture would be helpful!

That probably is one of the two links that attach the front sway bar to the strut housings.

The Touring debuted in 2007. Top of the line for 2006 was Package 8.

It was probably this height sensor. Pretty sure it was in the back area of the undercarriage, but the mechanic didn't point it out to me.

as I recall (10.5 years ago) dealer salesman called it touring. You suggest that "touring" is different than VSC.

The Touring Packages had 16" wheels, a larger spoiler, and a different suspension. Vehicle Stability Control was included in Package 4 and higher. In later years it eventually became standard.
