TPMS light comes on. Properly inflated all four tires, then attempted to reset the TPMS system. The procedure says to hold the button until the light blinks three times. Having done this in the past, I know that the light should stop blinking when the reset button is released. Now, the light continues to blink after releasing the reset button. When in regular drive mode, the button is continuously on.

Is this an indication that one or more of the sensor's batteries needs to be replaced?

Yes it is probably replacement time (or live with it). The TPMS in each tire are powered by long-life button batteries. When the battery dies, the whole sensor must be replaced. This can be costly, so you may want to read up to plan your strategy. Best approach is to change all out at a tire change.

How old is car, how many miles? Mine is 9.5 years and 150k miles and I have 2 bad ones now. The batt life is impacted by time and miles driven.

I'd second "dead battery", and "live with it". The cure is way too expensive.

Has anyone found good quality replacement aftermarket sensors as I have 2 Prii and my '06 with 154.6 k TPMS will not reset as of a couple months ago. My tires are newer and do not plan on taking them off soon but we do all our own tire mountx balance and alignment work and can eventually change the sensors. My wifes '04 Just got set of Continental True Contact Eco Plus LLR P185/65 R15's from Tire Rack and her's work good and I would like to at least keep one set working and keep those on her '04:with about the same mileage on her car for her safety as I have mine watched more frequently and watch mpg close and notice low tires quicker and habitually have young adult sons check them every season change.

The 04 doesn't have a sensor. Only 06 and up.

Amazon has the 06 Denso OEM units...and their fit guide is now working properly (for 06 anyways)
