So I got into my car as normal today, and upon depressing the brake and starting the car, I noticed all the lights/warnings lit up on the dash and then all but the check engine light went away, and the car failed to start. I then turn the car off, and tried again, only to see that the check engine light would turn on. It looks like the power-locks aren't functioning either. It's clear to me that one of the batteries are dead. Can someone tell me what course of action I need to take?

Any idea how old the 12V battery is?

How many miles are on the car?

It's got to be at least 13 months old, since that's how long I've had the car. It has ~110,000 miles.

If previous owner(s) never replaced the 12V battery, 2016 minus 2009 = 7years old, at least.

put a digital volt meter on the jump post under the hood, after it has been off for a few hours. the battery has a date code on top.

Welcome to PriusChat! From your description it sounds like the 12V Aux-Battery is about to, or already has failed. I had the same symptoms about 9 months ago with my 2009 Gen II (~106,000 miles at the time) - (dimmed interior lights, SKS system starting to get flakey, dash lighting up like a Yule-tree) - changed 12V battery (first one since new) - problem fixed (~$200 from dealer (including warranty)) - Good luck! - Wil
