Carfax for 2011 Prius II

    Greetings all. I am in the process of purchasing a Gen 3 prius and was hoping someone may have access to free carfax reports so I can check out a private party 2011 Prius II I would possibly like to purchase.

    I am trying to get my costs down as much as possible so I can purchase the vehicle.

    Private party or dealer?
    If it's a dealer, they either have the CF report and won't show it to you, which means they're hiding something...OR...they bought the car (or took it on trade) without knowing what it's worth, which means that they're morons.....
    A dealer will also have maintenance records for the car........or not.

    If you can't afford a CF report, then a 5-6 year-old Prius might not be the car for you.
    If it's approaching 120,000 miles then it's due for about $300 worth of maintenance....which I've seen dealers charge over 1000 bucks for.

    If it's a private seller and you're interested in the car then you're going to have to pay for an inspection anyway....right?
    Split the cost with the seller and tell them that if there's no negative items on the report, and you decide against the car then they can keep the report.

    What if you go to a dealer website and open one of their cars and substitute your VIN# in the query string. It might pull in the report for your car. I have not tested it lol Just an idea...

    Try downloading mycarfax app and instead of adding car by license plate add by vin. do not know if it will show any damage but it will show service history.

    As people said, if you're buying from a dealership, they have the carfax report and don't want to show it. That probably means they are trying to hide something. If that's the case, I'd say either they show it to me or you walk.

    If you have to pay, $15 isn't that much to invest but if you're worried then buy from a dealership then that offers free carfax

    I bought my prius from CarMax and they display the vehicle history on all their cars.

    My dealer I purchased my Prius from showed carfax right from their website so I saw the carfax before I left my house.
