I have a 2009 touring that was running perfect with no problems at all and was parked for a few months where the starting battery completely drained and died. I jumped the car from the front fuse box and it showed an error that the car is not in park and to apply foot brake, the park button lights blinks intermittently and the car will not be in Ready!

I have replaced the battery with original Toyota battery but no help. I have multiple scanners and see these codes (p3102 / c2300 / c0200/ c1310). I have tried to reset but these are current codes so can't!

Meanwhile I have replaced these parts from a running car ... Park button, shifter, Transmission ecu, Pcon relay, Pcon fuse, hev fuse, hybrid battery safety switch, and finally the actuator but still no luck! I have checked all fuses, I have the hv ecu but when I plug it and try to read it it shows me the vin number of the old car .. I have tried to program but was unable to with TIS software. I have tried turnning the actuator to park position manually but the car still sees it in neutral. I can push the car as it is in neutral by default which is strange from safety point of view and have dealt with multiple Prius but never seen this issue.

I've spent 3 weekends and can't figure out what the problem could be on a perfect running car! I will REALLY appreciate help from the community members on this plz!!!

    2009 Prius Touring
    Mileage: 96k
    Error codes: (p3102 / c2300 / c0200/ c1310)
Parts checked and replaced: Pcon fuse, Pcon relay, park switch/button, shifter, transmission ecu, actuator.

So when this car was parked, it was a proper running vehicle? Is this your car and you know the actual history? Or did you buy a car in this condition?

I'm unsure why you started replacing parts if the problem was thought to be a dead battery. Are you a mechanic?

Hi JC - I'm a part time dealer who loves Priuses .. Have dealt with a lot of them previously. I do not consider myself a mechanic but am handy enough for mediocre things. I bought this car maybe 6 months ago and drove it for a month or so on/off with no problems. I got the car detailed and parked it as it was listed for sale.

This was a running 100% perfect car! Only thing that went wrong was the main battery lost its charge and I had to open the door with key blade and jump it and ran into this issue immediately with the car not going in Ready!

I know the battery was dead so after no success with jumping I replaced the battery. Started looking at fuses/relays and then put a scanner and got the codes. Looked deeper and started replacing things hoping to find the root cause.

I love a challenge but this really got me bad :) looking for expert ideas so I can Fix this car and hoping others can learn from this thread!

P3102: What’s the sub-code? It’s 524…599. This might even be the most important one?

C2300: What does Techstream show for voltage in U,V and W phases? Other than the stuf you have already tested fault finding diagram just walks you through how to test the wiring and tells you to pull the SHIFT CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSY (park motor) and test if it turns freely.

C0200: You can probably somehow see if the right front wheel speed sensor reads normal or open circuit in the Techstream. If it’s normal then you can look into it when Prius is other vice working. If it’s open then maybe this has to with the other fault as they started the same time? You didn’t have fault lights on before this happened?

C1310: Hybrid control ECU is sending fault signal to Skid control ecu. This shouldn't really be the important one.

The one ominous think I keep hearing is: "I jumpstarted it, and now...". Any chance the jumpstart leads were reversed for a moment? I'm guessing no, but...

Hey Guys - thank you for helping I honestly really appreciate it!

    P3102:
How do you check for sub codes in TIS? I’ll crank up the laptop and look myself and search the forums for it also.

    C2300:
I'll check on the voltage .. i know if you leave the power wire off the actuator i get more errors so didn’t think the power to actuator was the issue or even with Transmission ECU aswell. We did turn the motor of SHIFT CONTROL ACTUATOR (park motor) and was fine but went ahead and replaced it anyway to troubleshoot with no luck. We were able to turn the shift actuator shaft and the car goes in Park manually but even after that it does not go to Ready state.

C0200: I think you're right its just when the car starts running this should go away. There were absolutely no fault lights on the dash when i parked the car.

    C1310: ok thanks.

I jumped the car myself and I’m 100% sure i didn’t put the wrong wires. Initially when i jumped it the car alarm went off as soon as i jumped it so i remember running to the key to turn it off and never having to do anything else as soon as i put the wires on.

So the car has been sitting, more or less, for 5 months and you haven't check the health of the 12v battery? Low voltage can do a lot of things to the Prius including throwing codes.

First thing was to replace the battery with oem Toyota battery before any of the troubleshooting!

It was new and was fully charged before it was installed in the car?

yea it was but have also charged it again as I've been using it. I've also tried to add a jumper with no help.

If the voltage is low you get an error right away on the scanner so it's not battery related from my guess.

This error is almost always indicative of a weak 12V battery. Check the battery and the connections. If that is good, disconnect the negative cable and reset the system.

i just replaced the battery the 3rd time with a working Prius with the black fuse box on the positive terminal and also the ground wire since it's easy and to troubleshoot this.

The car is in neutral I can push it and verify even when when I press P and TIS shows P with no data value it's still in neutral.

What do you see on a freeze frame on P3102? What about the other codes?

Like I told you on my previous post just look at the freeze frame. Freeze frame is opened by that snowflake. First thing in the freeze frame is the sub-code. Freeze frame also tells about other things.
