China, the Land of knock offs - Everything from the Rolex to arsenic & rat turd laced fake Camel cigarettes, to counterfeit US dollars, to the Range Rover.
I know musk has lofty goals about selling his vehicles in China, but I look at this simply as a huge opportunity to reverse-engineer everything that they can - make the knockoffs with a cheapness factor of at least 5, & then lock him & the tesla out.

I am under the impression many of the China EV's are smaller range lead-acid batts, but not sure about that.

Oops prepere for another blank spot to become a place holder ...

Anyway, the lack of moral character is kind of what the government deserves considering how much business hanky panky they allowed to go on at the expense of other countries.

It is a market where baby formula has been adulterated with melamine. Is this really a surprise?

You say that, but that's just what China is known for. because of the sheer amount of fakes. There's a fairly big market for real genuine Apple products in China. Oh and Clarkes shoes. In England, they're no where near as expensive as they are in China. There's obviously also a fairly big market for genuine car manufacturers, considering big name car companies that we've heard of make cars there too

most asian country's walk to their own drummer, like it or lump it. we tried to do business in thailand 20 years ago. everything is done by bribery and payoffs. they'll look you in the eye, shake your hand, lie to your face, then later claim it was a misinterpretation.

oh yeah, the only thing bigger than Chinese demand for genuine products though is their own fakes. There's kind of a sweet irony knowing that they do it to their own - too. Jeremy Clarkson pointed out a whole Litany of their crap and it really gave me a chuckle

Tbh, a lot of drugs are made in India these days (The generic ones) A lot of pharmaceutical products ie: syringes, medical supplies etc... are made in Pakistan these days

This tbh is true. Not only two days ago, my dad went to go get a birthday cake for me, and someone went down the wrong way down the road. Now my dad was born in Pakistan..sure, but in this part of Pakistan, you can tell who's spent time in the west and who hasn't. Any way, the police agreed with the person who went the wrong way down the bloody road... An expensive cake

That, and not so expensive, we spent about 150 (£1.20) rupees on some "ARmani" sunglasses, cos I have photophobia. Any how, they stop working (and supposedly only should have cost 50 (35p) rupees. The seller tried to make us pay 650 rupees first!) The glasses kinda broke on the end as the screws just well..unscrewed. It's been held together by superglue atm. The moment we get back to England is the moment I intentionally break these glasses

Funny, I used to get Clarkes Wallabies, manufactured in Ireland. Each time the price was higher, and higher. The last time I bought the price had dropped a bit, and I was told they were now being made in China. They had slight differences, noticeably the laces were a bit coarser, less springy. On the upside, the soles lasted much longer, and they stayed a bit more watertight.

I've still got that last pair, they're pretty sorry, but hey. I schlep around the garage and the yard in them. :)

same here, i think the clark soles wore out too fast, even though they were designed for outdoors. maybe they had already moved on to china. i've moved on to LL bean.

Wait you guys see Clarke's as good quality too? (Or did) Interesting. They're just seen as fairly cheap shoes here in the UK. I have some Ted Baker brogues though that I get repaired once/year :)
