yup ... & so - some will bitch it's (Hyundai's) reliability isn't that of a toyota - because it's relatively new ... the same complaint could have been said of Toyota, decades ago. Except toyota didn't offer a10yr warranty decades ago, & Hyundai does, on their relatively new product. And if that's not damning enough ... It actually has 5 seats in its plugin

I know but let's not jump the gun until we have the vehicles for sale and we got the real final specs. Yes with Hyundai lifetime batt warranty and the space, it should be a Volt/Fusion killer if not a Prius killer. But how often have we said that?...still waiting.

Yes - it could have a high cheapness factor like insight rev II. But when you look at many of their (Hyundai.l's)new offerings, I'm guessing that won't be the case.

Well, Ioniq has lower mpg numbers in Europe, both in official tests as well as reviews... so i dont see how it can suddenly be better in the USA. But it hardly matters, since it is lower size than Prius... so if you need half size smaller vehicle, a little bit less efficient and simpler, with lower price, it isnt a bad choice... i liked the look of interior but front seats were not comfortable and both my knees and head was pressing against interior in the back.

Sounds like hybrid not as good as Gen4, but the numbers say it is +8-ft3 bigger than the PHV Prime.

Those look like the same numbers on InsideEV's today. Total space the Hybrid shows as +2 ft3 more than Gen4 (no spare) and the PHEV is +8 ft3 more than Prime. So that is not consistent with @spwolf saying it is smaller, but maybe Toyota just has better use of the space.

I am assuming total space ft3 is true number (whereas it seems EPA Cargo space is inflated number for lift backs). If we had EU cargo space that would help.

Over on this thread our PriusChat members from Germany have posted IONIQ PHEV vs. Prime cargo space pictures.

Well, as trmp would say, the IONIQ looks YUGE in the back, but reportedly Prime has a better rear seat space.

So IONIQ is more Volt-like in the rear seats, Prime more Volt-like in the cargo space...take your pick!

Ioniq appears to have a lower ceiling inside for cargo. So, it may be smaller, but is hard to tell. We Already know the seating area is less.

We need someone to place the same object in each for proper prospective.

So the Ioniq PHEV and BEV likely have smaller modules too. Haven't determined if this means a different chemistry or use of liquid cooling though.

The BEV has a torsion bar rear. This means more space than the independent rear in the hybrids.

Depending upon price, the hybrid could

The numbers don't convey how well it is packaged. Looks like the Ioniq suffers from the rear profile slope like the Volt, with it cutting into rear head room.

The Ioniq can be bigger than the Prius, but still feel smaller.

If no changes occurred to the model, then these can just copied and pasted from 2016.
That is if the adjustment timeline is true.

These are cars where the test vehicle identifier, something like a VIN, changed. The ones with the same test vehicle identifier were trimmed out.

I'm waiting on the EPA test car data. I especially would like to see what Argonne Labs discovers but that might not be out until next summer.

IMHO there appears to be an inverse relationship to the synthetic 'buzz' about a car before its release and what really shows up in the lab. Not sayin' it can't happen, just too often "all hat and no cattle."
