I bought the Pioneer SPH-DA120 (with Apple carplay) in the hopes to replace the stock navigation that came with my 2014 Prius (default nav, not premium). I was frustrated with the navigation software that Toyota had provided and thought it would be worth paying to get a better navigation interface via my iPhone through CarPlay. I got the system installed at a local electronics store that also sold me the Pioneer system ... and was surprised about 3 things:
    1. They had to install a new mic (just above my steering wheel), they could NOT connect to the stock mic that was already in the Prius - they said that Toyota uses proprietary plugs for their in-car components. The new mic is providing disturbing "feedback" on phone calls and "hissing" with air flowing from my AC vents! Very frustrating!!
    2. They had to install a new GPS antenna that now sits on my dash just below the windshield glass - same issue as the mic (proprietary plug).
    3. This one was the worst shock of all ... they could not connect to the Prius back-up camera, and left me with no back-up camera!! - citing same issue of proprietary plugs for these components. Now they want me to buy a new back-up camera and install that to get my back-up camera functionality back!!!
    2 Questions:
    1. If it is indeed true that aftermarket products cannot be connected to Toyota's in-car components like mic, back-up camera and GPS antenna, then is there a way around this that someone may know? Can you guide me on that please?
    2. At this point, I am very frustrated with the whole experience of replacing my default Toyota Navigation system with a (slightly) better aftermarket product. Did they just do a bad installation job? Or is this typical in your experiences? I am seriously considering going back to the old system and returning the Pioneer ....
I would greatly appreciate you thoughts and inputs.
    Thank you!

If your handy. I guess you can overcome this obtacles. you can make a custom harness for the backup camera and plug it to the video in rca without splicing your stock harness.

Then your reverse signal input connects to your + reverse light.

    Hello

just read your post and i have a question
yesterday i install the DA120 system in my Prius 2014 and those are the issues we bump into

    1. after 3 hours of trying we install a new rear camera
    2. they also add the MIC and not use the Prius Mic

and this is by real problem - they coudnt connect the steering wheel control properly , he told me that he connect it but we need to find in the setting how to configure it? did you had this issue?

    thank you in advance
