I want to install tire sensor on my frs 17" wheels. The original sensor on my 15" is about 6 year old now so I am not sure they still work or not ( I have been driving on the 17" for 2 years). I just afraid after i swap the sensors from 15" to 17" the battery will die after short time so I plan to shop on ebay something like this:http://m.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-4-Toyota-Scion-Lexus-TIRE-PRESSURE-SENSOR-TPMS-TPM-OEM-PMV-107J-SET-TS02-/231430211513?nav=SEARCH to install on the 17". I have software and cable to make the prius accept the new sensors but dont know how to do it. Can anyone give me advise? Thanks.
See this thread TPMS Management with Techstream | PriusChat the first post is link to a YouTube video showing how to set codes for Highlander By the way, the TPMS are supposed to only be active when the car is on, so your old ones could have some decent life. But I am not sure they fit the new wheels. 3 out of 4 of my TPMS are now going into year 11 (10+ years old now). Check Amazon too for Denso OEM.
To at least verify sensors are ok: make sure your 15" wheels/tires have good pressure, fold down back seat and load them in, then go for a drive, see if TPMS light goes out.
The sensors have a code printed on them. You must write down these codes before you install them. Techstream will only let you enter the codes printed on the sensors; it isn't like a WiFi scanner that scans for them and asks which you want. If you install the sensor without writing down its ID, you'll need to dismount the tire and don't ask me how I know.
The reason i chose to buy a used set on ebay is the money to dismiunt the old sensor and maybe more than the thing i list in the first post 49.xx$. Anybody know if the prius tire sensor will fit on frs/brz 17" OEM wheels
I think the sensors the same for either 15" or 17" wheels; there's no mention of a difference here: 42607-33011 - Genuine Toyota VALVE SUB-ASSY, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR
