Prime can now be ordered in the U.S. but in the UK I can't even see any hint of a date when we will be TOLD the release date, packaging or pricing!

Does anyone have any influence with Toyota UK at least to tell us when we might hope to hear this sort of info for the UK?!!

UK Toyota blogspot comments have elicited a reply saying Q1/Q2 2017... Anyone have any more precise info that this?

Just chased up Toyota UK about UK availability and pricing.

    Here is the response:

"At this moment in time we don’t ahave any further information regarding pricing and availability. We will publish any updates as soon as they become available. Many thanks."

So no help there then. Seems to me to be what folk round here call "a poor do" that they had UK journalists driving and reviewing the Prime back in March and yet nine months later they can't or won't tell us anything useful regarding UK pricing or availability dates.

    Eventually.
The hybrid and BEV come first, then the PHEV 4 to 6 months later. My guess is that with the number of shared components with the hybrid, Hyundai is delaying it until hybrid production is up, and full roll out completed.

For the UK, I'm not sure, bet my guess is yes, since I haven't heard of a market not getting all three in time. Wonder if Brexit has something to do with any delays.

it may be that they both show up around the same time, if prime shows up at all. too bad for GT4Prius and others.

Can only see egg on face for Toyota having had their European "Launch" with lots of media fanfare and journalist test drives, nearly nine months ago back in March. Yet still no info about availability or pricing, NOT EVEN TO TELL US WHEN WE WILL BE TOLD! Can the @Prius Team shed any light on this?

I doubt it. It's a different country and a different arm of Toyota. Toyota GB is a separate entity from TMS.

We're in the same boat here in Canada. In fact, I'll count myself lucky if Toyota Canada actually -sell- the thing here in Edmonton at all! They still only offer the base G4 here.
Patience all. I suspect Toyota was surprised at the response and desire for the Prime, and combine that with the "trouble" they are/were having making the hatch, it's slow and steady wins the race.
That hatch is a complex part. Having to match the curved glass perfectly probably gave them conniptions! ;)

Well I can finally update you all on what I have found out from Toyota on the Prius prime.
Firstly we here in the U.K. Won't get a sniff of one till April-May 2017.
Toyota U.K. Are going to delay the release of the prime as they are at the moment concentrating on the sales of the new HRC crossover.
The most frustrating thing of all is as always we here in the U.K. ((Again)) Are going to get a dumbed down version in terms of spec. Just like the previous plug in.
We don't yet know if there will be models like the normal Prius. I.e. Business edition, excel etc.
But heres just a few things it won't have.
That Tesla size display screen you have seen has gone. We are having the smaller screen. The same as the new Prius.
Driver aids and technology have been dumbed down. Lane assist with adaptive steering has been replaced by a simple lane warning.
So no tesla auto pilot dreams I'm afraid.
There is no traffic jam assist. Stop start. Just adaptive cruise the same as on the new Prius excel.
Basically it's going to be a Prius excel but with the plug in option.
It's going to be abit of a disappointment soI have been told.
The biggest shock is the price. We are looking at prices starting from £35000. Not to mention that with the new road tax coming in April 2017 it's not going to be free.
I suppose at the end of the day we will all just have to wait and see.

If you get the European version, it will be a slightly larger, 8" screen.

I think it's the manufacturing of the carbon fibre hatch, not the glass, that's causing the slow down.

I'd rather Toyota take their time in ensuring the hatch is right (esp. since this is their first attempt in a mass market CF panel. They don't want a marketing failure). A few weeks' delay is worth not having to deal with any issues outside of warranty down the road.

The launch timeline for Canada is late March/early April. Given that there's an additional traction battery heater for Alaska and Canadian spec vehicles, I suspect it will be sold nationwide.

Wonder if the Finland models have the AK/Ca battery heater? There is a ship at sea that might have the Fin/Den Primes. Thier launch is Jan. isn't it.

    Interesting. Thanks.

What is your source for this info?

One thing I question slightly is what you say about lane departure assist. AFAIK the Uk Gen4 does have steering assist with this, just like the U.S. model. (But not Lane Keep Assist like the U.S. Gen3).

See this which says all uk Gen4 models have "Lane departure warning with steering assist":

Prius Active. | Grades | Toyota UK

Also I'm not aware of any Prime models in any country with "traffic jam assist" although the DRCC does provide a good measure of that sort of functionality.

Also some say that in Europe the Prime's headlights will be more sophisticated.

Re price, that would seem to make it v unattractive to buyers, but also seems like a FAR bigger differential over the Gen4 than in any other country. How reliable is that pricing figure?

    Who told you that ?
L(ane) D (eparture) A (lert) with S (teering) A (ssist) is an integral part of Toyotas Saftey-Sense system .
Why would they only give us the alert version and leave out the steering assist?
Doesn't make sense at all,as the hatchback has LDA with steering assist too !
The US Version of LDA with SA works exactly the same as in Europe and is nowhere near to Teslas or Hyundai's system anyway,as those keep the car in the middle of the Lane while Toyotas system only prevents the car from going over the line !
The European Prime will also have the full speed radar cruise control just as in the US,as this is also crucial part of Saftey Sense !
This is from the UK Toyota Website :

"The Prius Plug-in Hybrid also features Toyota Safety Sense as standard. Highlights include Full-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (with full stop technology) which detects a change in distance to the vehicle in front and causes the Prius Plug-in Hybrid to either slow, come to a complete standstill or accelerate smoothly back to its pre-selected cruising speed, once traffic speed increases."

Whoever told you this crap either was trying to pull your leg,or was completely clueless !
The only thing which is true is that we will not have the big screen in Europe and instead of that are getting a slightly bigger 8 inch touch-screen instead of the 7 inch we get in the normal gen. 4 !
I am personally not a fan of the big screen the US version gets, because it reaches to far down for my liking .

There are suddenly 5 or more such new UK reviews on the web which include pricing numbers and model specs.

However see the reply I have just received from Toyota UK MD's office:

"I have been asked by our President and Managing Director, Paul Van der Burgh, to thank you for your E-Mail dated 10 February 2017 requesting information about the launch of the New Prius Plug-In Hybrid and to respond on his behalf.

The new Prius Plug-in Hybrid is due to be launched very soon and the latest information we have is that the model is due to go on sale in the UK on 1st March 2017 (with production having commenced in Japan in January 2017).

Unfortunately, there were factory delays in production which pushed the production of the vehicles back to January 2017.

Official information regarding the launch is due to be released towards the end of next week (including colour availability as well as trim and option levels) when press and media internal launch activities will begin. The web chapter for the Prius Plug-In will be updated simultaneously on our Website. Please note that pricing specifications for the UK have not yet been finalised and, therefore, we cannot comment on third party websites displaying these. As further information is imminent, I would advise keeping an eye on our social media channels as that will be the quickest way for you to get the latest news."

The fall of the pound creates a problem for them, I am afraid the prices will be higher than on the reviews. Let's hope not.
