First week with first Prius Plug-in

    Hi All,

    New here, and as a first time Prius owner, I must say I'm very happy with my purchase of a 2013 Prius Plug-in. Toyota seems to have put a lot of thought into the engineering of the car. Even without charging the battery (as I live in an apartment complex and currently don't have access to an outlet without running over 100' of cord which the landlord would be rather upset about) I'm averaging between 52-54 mpg on my daily commute.

    Just about to take a longish trip in it and looking forward to observing how it behaves on such a trip. Wish I'd purchased one a long time ago, but better late than never.

    Maybe in time I will trade it out for a Prius Prime, after that model has been out for a while to allow Toyota to work out all the first generation bugs, or I'll keep this one and add the Prime as a 2nd vehicle. That's a couple years or more down the road (so to speak) so I can't say yet what I'll do, but I will hate to part with this car - at least that's how I feel at the present time.

    Depending on what your CA legislature does with green HOV stickers after 2019, you may need the Prime to qualify for any extension, but not sure if that's important to you.

    I love my, 2013 PIP as well. If you are going on a long trip you will love it! Luckily my work allows me to charge it up so it does not cost me a penny to keep it fully charged. When going on occasional trips to Gallatin, which is about 32 miles i will get around 80 mpg and on the way back get around 60 mpg and that is with the battery depleted so averaged about 70mpg for the full trip. All i dropped was 1/2 a bar on the fuel gauge and in any normal vehicle i would have wasted about a 1/4 tank of gas. So I love my PIP and you will love the gas mileage you get out of it! That and it drives like a totally different car if you fully charge the vehicle as well.. Love the EV only drive :D

    I have owned my 2013 Plug in Advanced for 5 days now. I'm surprised how much nicer it seems over my 2011 package 2 Prius. I'm averaging 94mpg so far over 210 miles of use. I gave my wife my 2011 and that right now is averaging 53mpg. It's great to have 2 Prius. When the Prime gets seating for 5 I will likely trade in my 2011. I love the Plug in a lot so far
