My daughter has my 2011 Prius and noticed that when she pushes the brake pedal to the floor at a stop light that it locks the brakes on for 4 secs. She was adjusting her seat belt.

That is normal - it is not a bug, but a feature - it helps the car stay "in place" when starting from an incline. You press the brakes "hard" for 3-4 secs, you hear a beep, the car stays in place without applying the brakes long enough for you to press the accelerator to start.
In the Gen4 the function is automatic, meaning that if the gyroscopes in the car detect an incline, the car will come to a stop, without applying the brakes.

    Gyroscopes???

Whatever it is, it does work pretty well.... Sometimes.

Two times I tried it, my car started sliding back slowly.

Other times, I had success and the car held.

Gyroscopes, yes. They are used to understand the position of the car on the 3 axis. The information is used by the traction control to understand if the car is e.g. sliding or rotating and apply brake accordingly to keep the intended direction of travel (as per steering wheel position).
So far it seemed to be working fine on all grades I ended up being waiting (traffic light or traffic only).

Pakitt, what is that loud "bang" I hear when a wheel slips on a wet surface?

Is that the traction control kicking in?
I was driving slowly both times, when it happened.

Butting in here, but could it have been the metal plate itself rocking on the road surface. They can make one helluva clatter!
