Hi! I got a 2012 Prius v Five, and under the dash, there is this little switch. Does anyone know what this is? IMG_3159.JPG

I bet it is an anti-theft device added by the dealer.

Looks like a dealer installed alarm. My moms Camry has the same looking thing and so does my Prius

Thank you! That solves the mystery. Now, without the remote, I have to figure out what to do next to keep it from going off.

Those de ices prevented me from buying a rav4 before. they said they could remove it. and I was like what about he 2 holes you will leave behind.

They were not going to try and lower price and basically said take it or leave it.

Was told it's for there remote system to unlock the vehicle and to locate it if stolen from them.

BS. Why are dealer such liars and scammers? The holes are only the cosmetic part (which could be fixed with a couple of black rubber plugs). You should see what they do to the wiring harness.

I avoided buying a new car for almost 14 years, driving what I had (a PT Cruiser, which I loved) because of the inevitable drama. When I started working with a long commute, I knew it was time, but still put it off for three months. Made a fair deal, refused the "free" alarm, required the stealership to remove the junk fees, refused the joke offer on my trade, refused their "offer" of a great deal at 8.5% (got 1%) and still had to shower twice when I got home. I finally told the sales person to stop lying and just shut up or I was walking out. He acted hurt (another lie, I am sure).
