Correct me if I am wrong.....not that I have ever been before.....and I know everyone could probably bring up several times....

But, irregardless of the battery testing that has been done already, should not the battery just be tested after having sat for at least eight or so hours....without driving and charging?

If that does not matter, can someone explain to me why not. Believe it or not, I am trying to learn also.

correctomundo. i'm not sure how the o/p had it tested, but if the load is done correctly, as stated in posts #15 and 16, then waiting for the surface charge to dissipate is unnecessary.

Wondering about the internal shorting potential in the Optima design. Mechanically, would the spiral design be more or less conducive to an internal short? And how would someone test for that? I would think that an AGM battery would almost be immune to such mechanical failures. I bought an Optima for my 2008 and it worked reliably until I traded it in. There are some threads though describing poor workmanship and QA since the company moved their operation to Mexico.

I didn't wait the 8 hours. Since the battery is under warranty, I know they would have charged it and waited to see if it would hold the charge. Think you were right, loose connection. We reinstalled the battery and have had no problems. 313 miles later, had to drive to the airport and back, still working fine. Although I stressed the whole way. Thanks for the good advice!!!
