    Thanks for that post.
i hadn't considered sealing the inside of the rocker. My main goal here is rust prevention. I am not planning on bothering to straighten the panel. It won't be very noticeable after paint
The parts guy at the dealer looked in a book and seemed to know that the magnetic gray does not have a factory clear. It wasn't the touch up that was different. They sell clear for codes where it is called for. I am not convinced yet but there was no confusion with what he said.
The area I am going to fix is right in front of the drivers rear wheel. Hopefully not sandblasted too much with road debris but I will keep an eye on it. Did they use a special rock chip clear?

To protect that area from inside you can access it by removing the rear tire wind deflector (just one bolt). This opens a hole were you can put in a cavity wax spray bottle with hose that has multi directional spray nozzle at the end.

Stone guard paint goes under the color it protects the paint on top of it by being softer than metal. But I don’t think that area gets hit that much so it shouldn’t be a problem if you skip stone chip there. But clean the rust good (don’t use wire brush wheel) and use quality primer.
