    Hi everyone,
From as far as I know I've been a Toyota fan in my heart!
My first couple of cars were all Toyota (Corolla, Camry(5), Solara) and I was an active Toyota Nation member.
Couple of years ago I switched and tried different brands (MINI and Honda) and of course an old Sienna during that time.
I've always been interested in the Prius but never did the move.. I'm a car enthusiast and love cornering/acceleration and the Prius was not really for me.
Now that I'm about to become a father (It will probably be tonight or tomorrow) I "dropped the clutch" on this old interest and got myself a used 2012 Prius (base model)
I was originally looking for a Gen2 post facelift (2006-2009) but I went to try a Gen 3 at my Toyota dealership (where I bought my first car in '99) and felt in love with this generation. I tried a couple different cars and my wife and I set ourself on a 2012 white with black leather interior. (The Prius is mine by the way, she sold her 350Z to buy a Nissan Rogue but I wanted her to have a word on the final approval to make the move)
I already have a scangaugeII at home that I ordered a couple of weeks ago and that's pretty much the only "modification" I will put on that car for a while.. maybe I'll get a black vinyl wrap on the roof next summer :)
On a Gen 2 I was planning to add EV Mode and maybe some arduino/raspberry pi customization but this Gen 3 I will keep it as is and not play too much with it

For my need for hard acceleration and cornering I have a Classic Mini that I installed a 210hp Honda engine in 2015 and we keep it in the family even tho we will be a family in a few days/hours ;-)

So hello everyone! I'll try to be active and not get too annoying with newbies questions ;-)

Welcome to PriusChat and congratulations on both your new Prius and soon to be family expansion.

Are you hoping (or having) a boy or girl?

I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun teaching him to skate and stick handle a puck into the net.

    Mox,

We looked at the Gen3s too, but went with a Gen2. My wife, who is the primary driver of 05PreeUs, had nowhere to put her purse in the Gen3 except for the back seat. With the Gen2, it sits on the floor under the dash, just in front of the armrest assembly.

While a very small thing in the bigger picture of vehicle ownership, if it makes her happy..... :)
