Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon...) Wagon (only) MPG - Please Post Your Results

    From the display. I have found it to be quite accurate over long drives but during daily driving it is fairly optimistic, I agree.

    On the 7th fuel up I started doing the Pulse and Glide,the only thing is that I hate about Pulse and Glide is having 90 year old ladies
    blowing the horn at me from behind because I'm going too slow.
    Tire pressure 37psi all four tires.50% city 50% highway.
    Gasoline+Premium 93.I know people are going to comment on this one but I tried the low grade and the Prius V being so heavy just does not move on low grade gas when you step on the gas pedal especially when entering a Highway.

    I was overtaking the 'roadtrains' comfortably in central Aus. I hit power and went from 115 to 130 OK. A few times I even overtook a few at once and got to 150. It's not a sports car but there's enough power for most things.

    Really? I've never gotten even 11 in there at zero pips.

    Those must be "Wallygallons"...

    It was a little over 50 miles since the "light" had gone on....I still thought the max was 11.9. But I did fill it up as much as possible just to see how much I could get in. Snow around and the extra weight helps.

    First, it is not good to over fill or try to fill as much as possible as it messes up your emissions/Evap equipment.

    Second, I have never ever seen gas sooo low. We pay $3.00 per gallon here in California.

    1.499 at the Murphy gas near my main client, when paid via Walmart card. I am only getting 10 to 10.5 gallons, but I don't run on the low light.

    Nope. Extra weight in the rear of any front-drive vehicle is certain to hurt its ability to accelerate or climb hills on slippery surfaces.

    Agreed pump reading seems off, in the pump owners favor of course.

    I only did this once but I marked off a 1-gal washer fluid gal jug to 1-gal exact by weight of water. Then I got 1-gal exact at the pump in a gaso container and checked it. It was bang on 1-gallon. After about 2 weeks I was down to about 0.95 gals demonstrating vaporization through the plastic bottle (newer gaso containers are treated to prevent this evap loss).

    But he did say he topped it off to the top I believe...

    Wouldn't that be the extra 1/2 gallon if the tank was bone dry? I.e. Just about or Overflowing? As in filling the tube after click off?

    Hey guys and gals!

    i just filled up my prius v two, I waited until there was only 1 pip left and the range showed about 40ish miles left. Funny thing, the tank would only hold 9.487 gallons, I guess I could have gone through the other pip; but was afraid after reading that the system could be damaged if I had ran out of gas and drained the battery. So, the car had 23 miles on it when I took ownership, I put about 370 miles on the first tank; dealer filled it up. I have started to get used to the gas pedal and smoothness of the transmission. I think it is awesome that I can drive up to 43 mph and not use any gas!!!! The mfd showed a tank average of 41.9 and my math, subtracting the 23 miles that were on it when I picked it up, 39 mpg. Not too bad, the car I traded in was a Jetta TDI with 150,000 miles averaging 45 mph with a tank range of 550-650 miles. Hopefully after the break in period with the prius, I can still attain the same mpg.

    Yup.... I suspect the extra 1/2gallon could fit in the fill neck and associated spaces.

    OK, we've had our Prius v for about 6 months, have put about 5300 miles on it.

    Been manually logging mileage for the last 2K miles. Overall average for the 2K miles -- 45 MPG (trip computer indicates a bit over 48 MPG -- so the trip computer is ~7% optimistic). Mileage was dragged down a bit by a large number of "short hop" trips -- 3 mile commute, 1-2 miles to the grocery-store, etc.

    Just finished a road-trip to Fresno (to visit in-laws). 772 miles, a bit less than 16 gallons used (topping up the tank both times). Comes out to at least 48 MPG, even allowing for tank fill-up variations. That's mostly highway miles with the A/C on about 2/3 of the time. Not lead-footing it, but was keeping up with the flow of traffic. Had fun passing a couple of SUV's going up the big Grapevine southbound climb (I-5 out of the San Joaquin Valley). The engine let us know how hard it was working, but we had no problem keeping up with the "big dogs" in the left lane.

    Needless to say, we are *very* pleased with the car.

    OK, time for a 12 month update.

    Recently finished a mondo San Diego --> Tehachapi --> Denver --> Livermore --> San Diego road trip. About 3200 miles total.

    Lots of sightseeing plus visiting lots of relatives. The fall colors in the Colorado Rockies were spectacular even though the aspens were past their prime by mid-Oct.

    Crossed the Rockies twice on I-70 to/from Denver (Vail Pass at 10,600 feet and Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,000 feet). The I-70 climb out of Denver to Eisenhower Tunnel is possibly the most challenging interstate highway uphill grade in the USA, even more so than the I-80 climb from Reno to Donner Summit or the I-5 climb out of the San Joaquin Valley over Tejon Pass.

    My original misgivings about the Prius' ability to handle long uphill climbs were completely erased by this trip. Had no trouble maintaining full speed on all the long uphill grades (even passed a few pickemup trucks). Never had to floor the accelerator and never depleted the hybrid battery. The lowest the battery got was about 1/2 full-charge after passing some traffic near the top of Vail Pass.

    Hit strong headwinds through Utah and Nevada on the way back to California.

    Overall MPG? 44 (based on fill-ups, not the trip computer).

    For the drive from Livermore back to San Diego (no headwinds), we got about 48 (again, based on fill-ups, not the trip computer).

    Just filled up at a local Walmart. For a total 'in town tank' I calculated 48.8 MPG. The car computer estimate was 51.0 MPG. I'm a happy camper...

    Bought my 2013 Prius v with 24k miles on it in May of 2015. Since then I've put 33,350 miles on the car. I live in Illinois and do 80% highway, 20% city driving, 60 mile round trip daily commute. Average speed on the highway is 75 mph.

    Currently at 57,350 miles
    Last tank average was 35.4 mpg
    Current mpg on this oil change 32.8 mpg (cold here in IL)
    Since the day I bought it (@ 24k miles) 36.7 mpg

    The original tires only lasted 30k miles. I replaced them with Michelin Premier A/S for a quieter ride.
