There was a thread on this a month or so ago, I think someone said parts wouldn't be available till March 2017?

I am affected. For the US and Mexico, you can use this website and enter your VIN to see which recalls affect you. You can also find out from the Toyota Owners IOS (and Android?) apps.

I used that link and put in my vin but no airbag recall notice. Is it bc it's not added or I'm not affected?

It means you are not affected.
Note: I believe that all 2016's made before October are affected by the Parking Brake recall, so you should see that one. If not, then you probably entered the wrong VIN.

Looks like the remedy for the passenger airbag recall is available.

We can put men on the moon, and send satellites to Mars, but we can't find a company to build safe reliable airbags.

I sure hope Toyota has stopped using Takata as their airbag supplier. But they didn't. I read an article that said even the replacement airbags were faulty (in some vehicles). I believe it was Nissan. I don't trust the dealer to start tearing apart the dashboard. Or the seat. Or the side pillar. Or wherever that passenger airbag is located.
I think I'll just leave mine as is.

And the parking break is good as long as your vehicle is always put in "P" before you turn it off. What kind of nut would exit their Prius with it still in DRIVE, and the power ON?

Huge number of airbags required and very few suppliers. Without the Takata factory demand would outpace supply.

Well then, maybe a couple more companies should start making airbags? Lets have some competition, and see who can do a better job. I certainly wouldn't keep buying from an airbag company that is making defective parts!

Toyota should make their own. Then we can blame them. :ROFLMAO:

Complicated explosive device. The identification of the recall puts the liability into Tanaka's hands. And soooo few of them actually experience problems. Especially in our warm dry climate.

If I remember correctly, the recall is for the passenger seat airbag? The one between the legs? Or is it on the side of the seat nearest the door?

Received two recall notices in the mail today:

    Parking Brake
    Passenger Side Airbag

It says the airbag fix will take 3 hours at the dealer. Has anyone had this work done yet? Do I really want those guys at the dealer tearing my car apart? It doesn't specify where the airbag is located... Dash? Seat? Side Curtain?

I seem to recall an article that said the faulty airbag was located in the passenger seat, right under where your legs go. Does that sound right?

    ** SERIOUSLY, LEARN TO USE***

I sure hope it's not in the dashboard. I don't want them ripping out the dashboard.

That new Honda Civic is looking better & better. :D

I might have to trade-in my Disneyland "kiddie car." :ROFLMAO:

My youngest son has a new Civic. When he last visited, here was his statement.

"People say my car looks angry. Your car looks real angry!" (Civic vs Prius)

Hard to believe Toyota is STILL using Takata airbags and parts.

And is it only the Japanese makes that are having airbag problems? Toyota, Nissan, Honda? I'm not going to have my passenger side replaced unless it blows. The recall says the airbag may accidentally deploy itself, while the car has been sitting for many days or weeks. Very odd.

I've seen a few of the new Civics on the highway, I think they look sharp, masculine and young, yes, but not angry. I still like my 2016 Prius better, but I like the new designs that are emerging.

According to Toyota, the September recall for 2016 Prii is not a Takata problem, The big June recall, involving several years of Gen 3 Prii involved airbags from Autoliv, a Swedish-American company.
