That is EXACTLY how I would get one. Grey Touring looks seems to work well on the Gen. 4. Seriously will consider it when the lease on my present car is up!

    Congratulation, enjoy your new car.

I quite like the colour - the car I had before last was that colour - BUT - often people didn't see it, it blended in with the colour of the bitumen/tarmac, shadows & background colours. It was as though it was invisible. I had a few scary moments. After the first, I ALWAYS drove with headlights on.

further explanation - It's not just dark grey which has this problem, there are a number of other colours, including the dark blues, greens and probably worst, black. Red can get lost at dusk. Unfortunately TOYOTA won't sell what is probably the most visible colour outside Japan - Thermo-Tect Lime Green:

Like it or Hate it - it's definitely visible.

    Agreed!
Absent the availability of that color, Blizzard Pearl (white) is the next most visible colo(u)r.

The colour (color) is irrelevant if you use headlights at all times.
That's really what ultra bright daylight running lights are for, so you can be seen more easily by others.

Not so sure - depends of the angle of your approach to the "invisible" car. Last time, the car did have (located low) DRLs on, I thought there was a gap behind the VERY visible car approaching me, but that gap ended up being a VERY "invisible" battleship grey car against a background of dark trees and shadows. I noticed in time to stop, but had started moving and was stuck across the first lane when I stopped.

That's exactly what I mean Alan. If that grey car had had DRLs or headlamps on, it would have ceased to be 'invisible' and more obvious to you and others.

I taught both my daughter's to use their headlights while driving during the day because they had dark blue cars. My feeling was that their driving school instructors should have emphasised this to ab initio learner drivers, but this was before cars (other than Volvos) were equipped with DRLs. As a former air traffic controller perhaps I more familiar than some others with the the contrast between camouflage and high conspicuity.:cautious:

Just picked up a black 3 with ATP, really loving the comfortable ride and the awesome gas mileage. I was shocked that the gas meter didn't budge after 120 miles. My last car would be at 1/2 tank after driving that lol. Hopefully some one doesn't run into me because my car is black lol.

It's worth filling it yourself - the first tank, for some reason, gives a false reading for litres/100km or MPG as well as distance to empty. My previous car was the same, didn't give a representative readout till the 2nd tank.
