I appreciate all the replies. We followed the suggestion by Pakitt and as described on page 142 of the manual -still no speed limit display. I know we have it because we saw it when we drove it home from the dealer. My wife and I both commented on how cool it was. Now it is gone never to be seen again :(. It's a neat feature but what is more concerning is that this problem may be an indication of a problem with the radar system. Looks like it will have to be taken back to the dealer. Thank again Pakitt. If anyone else know or have any suggestions on how I can get the speed display back I can impress my wife with all my smarts!

The speed limit in the HUD is displayed intermittently. I see it when I cycle through the HUD button left of the steering wheel. I personally have grown weary of it and it has lost it's appeal for me...

I noticed that the speed limit shows for a street or it doesn't. Meaning, some streets (mostly major although the pic I took on wasn't a major street), side roads, parking lots, etc, won't show the speed limit, but they will show the street I'm on or direction if it doesn't have a street name. That is the display I keep it on because I think it is useful plus I like seeing the compass.

(y)(y)(y)It's back..the speed limit sign suddenly appeared after several days of unexplained hiatus. Maybe it was off in Florida enjoying some sunshine. Anyway no apparent reason, the street were the same. We'll see how it goes.

Seeing the speed limit sign is dependent upon a couple of things: a) whether there is speed limit data for the street you are on, and b) being on the correct screen to display the info. According the manual, you have to be on the Navigation screen on the Multi Information Display. Any other screen won't work. At least that's how I read it. Our Highlander has a similar feature, and we don't necessarily see it all the time because of the information screen that we might be on at the time.

Same issue with my Garmins. The stored data lacks most local streets, and even some arterials.

It'll show up on the MFD as well as the MID. (MFD is the bigger screen). I've seen it on the HOME page with the split screen display. It's a tiny icon. In addition, I thought it wasn't available in Canada (According to the manual) but I intermittently saw it on local main roads.

2017 Prius 4 purchased 2 November 2016. HUD speed limit sign picture.

    Garmin GPS
We have use our Garmin for several years. I like it because it has a speed limit marker that turns red if you are exceeding speed limit for that section of road. The speed limit data is linked to data in the map. Go passed a speed limit sign.. few seconds later the screen is updated to reflect the posted speed limit. The Garmin does not have a camera to read the current speed limit sign. This become obvious after a few years... where the actual road speed limit sign now reads 50 miles per hour... and the Garmin built in map old data still shows 45 miles per hour limit. Garmin free life time map update corrected this mismatched speed limit issue.

Prius 4 HUD speed limit picture (current loaded map is dated July 2016)
On our return home the other day.... same situation where the HUD picture still displayed 45 but the new speed limit sign had recently been changed to read 50 miles per hour.

Just because you might think you have a current dated map doesn't mean it reflect current road speed limits. The map software company has to have made the necessary map data changes. They can distribute current dated maps but in some regions have yet to be corrected.

We still use our Samsung Galaxy s7 curve smart phone Google Maps for the traffic overlays.

Are you able to cast your Google maps from the G7 edge onto the head screen, or just monitor your phone screen?

Picture is too bright, but it says Speed Limit 40.
I also see the Speed Limit on the navigation screen. I think it was one of the Nav "options" I had to turn on.

Hi CC, mine is a UK spec similar to your three, but I have 15" wheels and no nav. However, speed limits as recognised are shown on the higher screen and in the HUD.

My U.S. Three model also has 15" wheels and Toyo tires. But no HUD. The navigation was the only extra feature that came with my Three... other than that, it's pretty basic.

That white gen 4 you posted in another thread seemed to have 17"wheel inserts. (n)

I have the 15" tires with plastic wheel covers. The 17" looks very different.

I like this feature. It something that you can used all the time . This way you be alert even more not to go over the speed limit. The two eco don't have it.

In North America, we have two types of 15" wheel covers. We have the silver one that you have (and the rest of the world has apparently) and then on the Three and Four, we have the same design but with black painted bits to make it look like a fan blade design (as CC posted two posts above)
