So, I just bought a 2006 Prius with pkg 6. Finally happy to have gotten my first hybrid and loving the hands free phone, navigation system & back up camera. BUT, thought it was just the batteries in keys so had batteries replaced & still cannot get the car to lock/unlock. Also the one cigarette lighter has no power to charge my cellphone. Can't find anything about these in manual and AutoZone was worthless - said key batteries were dealer items (got those done at a battery store) but they also refused to check the fuses. Any suggestions on how to keep my new baby locked without having to use the manual key to get in & out and how to charge my phone? Thanks in advance

There are two cigarette lighters in my 2005, one under the dash to the left of the passenger's legs and one in the center console. The fuse panel is under the dash on the driver side, I believe the cig lighter fuse is indicated on the chart. A blown fuse could also be the cause of your locking/unlocking issues (may even be the same fuse causing both).

could be the 12v, or bad lock actuator. doesn't the manual lay out the fuses? does the door lock/unlock with the rocker switch inside?

No none Does the car only able to drive to a speed of 20 mph tell you anything?

If main battery is failing, is that a symptom? It will start and back up but not drive very fast!

    No totally not true.

The 12 V supply os only for booting the car, once in READY, it uses power from the main battery to turn over the engine.

If you have no experience working on these cars, you should probably steer clear of this car.

And on an editorial note, please don't tack on to other people's threads, please start your own, you will get a better response that way and not confuse the OP's (original poster's) thread.

Also, you should be posting on the Gen I forum, this is the Gen II forum.
